Root Help me decide on which rom for friends phone!

A female friend of mine just got a MetroPcs Ascend. She want me to do what I can to speed it up and possibly enable tethering. She isn't going to be into customizing it much or running many special apps or anything, just wants to speed it up as much as possible and remove bloatware.

I have rooted my LG ally and after seeing how much a custom rom can speed things up I have decided to root her ascend for her and install a faster rom. Now my question is: which rom will be the best for her? something I can install and she can just use without many problems? something to speed it up, free some memory, and maybe pretty it up a little bit. All opinions are appretiated!

I put icarus on my wife's phone. She is not really into the whole customization as well, she just wants to call and text. It's a great solid rom with no bugs at all.

I like cm6, it is prettier and faster than Icarus, but that is a good choice too.

Well we all know i like CM7. CM6 is great too. I gave my wife icarus back when the CM's weren't so stable. I may need to upgrade her. I change my vote to the CM roms.

After doing alot of reading I think i'm going to put CM6 on for her. good choice?

using tethering on metro? wow she going to be upset with 1x...and also tethering is not good also, but bio means go ahead and give it a try!!!

yeah the 1X is gonna suck but she knows. why do you say tethering is not good? is this specific phone just not good at it or something else?

it can make the phone really warm, and also depends on how long you tethering also, there was some post on here explaing diff issues/info doing this.
