Ok IMO these 3 applications have pretty much changed my whole out look on the phone...maybe they'll help some of you Charge owners also.

*1- Launcher pro...A must have!
Changes the look of the phone and really takes alot of the screen lag away, I would not even consider this phone without this Launcher...

*2-Dolphin Browser HD...Another must have on the Charge!
This to me is a life saver as far as browsers go on this phone. Zero lag, real pinch to zoom, and plenty of customization...And I love the color layout of the Android Green and Grey, goes with the look and theme of my phone.

*3- Go SMS...
WoW,,,I love it! Absolutely awesome... The tweaking I was able to do was great, my own color scheme, which by the way is Black, Grey, & Android Green makes me enjoy texting again. The color scheme on the stock SMS app is just terrible, what were they thinking? This is probably the best SMS app IMO.

Well those are the 3 I like...feel free to comment and post what you think makes this an all around better phone with some tweaking...

sounds good that you have found some great workarounds!

does this mean you want to keep the phone? it sounded like you were thinking of returning it, in some of your other posts..

I may end up keeping it...after some tweaks, its really not a bad phone at all. Plus I tried using my Thunderbolt earlier today, and I must say it feels like brick...lol! Its all about preference, I missed the Super Amoled screen since I got rid of my Fascinate, so for me this may work. Until the Bionic comes out anyway...going to give it a few more days before makeing my decision.

Woe... lag? The Charge has lag between screen transitions? I figured forsure it would be a lag-free device since it's a dual core phone. My G2x had absolutely no lag out-of-the-box, and hasn't developed any no matter how many screens I add to my Go Launcher (I'm with you Carmen).

You're right adding a custom launcher can greatly reduce or get rid of lag all together. When I got my DX it had terrible lag out-of-the-box. Then I switched over to LPP and the lag disappeared. But a few months later it seemed to be creaping back in there, so I tried Go Launcher and that (plus flashing GummyJAR) took out all of the lag.

But then I started adding more and more home screens and I noticed the lag coming back. I figured out as long as I kept it down to 9 or less home screens the lag was gone. But on my LG G2x I've added up to 15 home screens and filled them all up just to test it out (I'm up to 11 full time home screens right now), and I can't get this phone to lag on me no matter what I throw at it.

I guess I just assumed that was a characteristic of the dual core processors at work.

Edit : OOOOOOPPPS!!!! Sorry, I coulda swore the DC was a dual core device. My bad, please exuse my ignorance!

Hi,
I didn't have any lag issues until maybe like the second or third day after purchasing the phone. I bought it a week ago today! I use Go Launcher Ex and my Handcent Sms. I'm using the same widgets, icons and settings that I had with my MyTouch 4G. I really, really, like this phone and my battery is starting to last longer, but the lag between switching of the screens, apps, appdrawer...is really annoying and making me not like it! I had that it's always going back to my default screen instead of staying on the screen I was previously on. I never experienced that before while using Go Launcher!

Do you think I should swap and get a different one, or will I have the same results?

I just upgraded from my DROID X to the Charge (I am a MOTO going backi to the "Q" days. I waited MONTHS for the Bionic and then broke up with Motorola when I saw that bright beautiful Samsung display).

I am running stock EVERYTHING and LOVE this phone!! My only quibbles are that I dont feel like it can handle being dropped like the X could (that thing was indestructable) and I have to admit that I DO miss the physical shutter button on the X (although the Charge takes better pictures).

I ran Launcher Pro on the X cause of Moto Blur, but I am LOVING the stock Samsung Android experience on the Charge!!!

Just my .02 cents, YMMV
