Root eris Stuck on skateboard guys? Help

My Eris is rooted, running GSB 3.2 I just wiped dalvik and flashed gsb 3.3 and it won't reboot. It is stuck on the three skateboard androids. Help.

Can you restart to Recovery by holding VolUp while starting up, or to HBOOT by holding VolDn while starting up? Or is it just skateboarders when you try that, too?

If you can get to Recovery try doing a Nandroid Restore of a good backup. (I hope that you backed up - you always should before you flash anything.) Or, of course, you can try a wipe data/factory reset and see if that helps.

Also, you do not mention it, so I'll ask (though this shouldn't keep the phone from booting): you did re-flash Google apps after flashing 3.3, right? You always have to re-flash gapps after you flash GSB.

This happened to me several times last summer when we were still trying to figure out root for Eris. I would pull the batter and it would resume what it was doing before the battery pull. I would normally pull the batter for several minutes, even depress the hard buttons a few times (as you would depress the power button on a PC with it unplugged to "reset" the mother board). Then put the battery back in and as doogald mentioned; power up while holding with volume up (recovery), or volume up (HBOOT). This could have been my imagination, but seemed to work...;)

Then wipe (wash hands of course) and reflash ROM.

Talked to Verizon and they had me pull battery and replace, then press power down plus phone button then power. Screen came up asking to clear storage. Did that and it went right back to the skateboard guys... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

These cats can help you alot better than Verizon can. If you do a battery pull then h press and hold volume up and power button that wont get you into recovery?

I did vol up plus phone and power and it did boot to recovery. Chose restore and now it is been loading for about 40 min... all I get now is a screen full of dots, me think something still not right. Any answers to that? Don't know whether to try and reboot again, don't want to get stuck on those skateboard guys again. Any ideas here?

If you are in Recovery, that's ok. I'm not sure if there is a way to stop the Nandroid Restore - that does sound strange to me.

I'm going to point you to this post from EU1: xda-developers - View Single Post - [Q] non-rooted eris stuck on boot screen

So, the strategy I think is to get back into Recovery, if you can, copy over that MTD_Inspect_v0.9.zip to your SD card. You can do that in Recovery by connecting the Eris to your computer, choosing MS-USB from Recovery - which should mount the SD card to the PC - copy that file to the SD card. Then disconnect the drive for the SD card safely from Windows (if you are running Windows) or eject it (if you have a Mac), press the trackball on the Eris, and then Flash that zip file. Again, you can use MS-USB when it is done to copy the MTD_Inspect.txt file from the SD card. Look at it and, well, just copy and paste the results into a reply.

Best of luck. I'll be checking in every once in a while but definitely once an hour or so for the rest of the day.

I am amazed... Got the sucker working finally. Had to stop the endless restore by removing battery then do vol up, phone and power and it came back to recovery. Did dalvik wipe and reinstall of gsb 3.3 and gapps and it is working. I did have to call verizon again because it wouldn't let me make calls. They reset something and it is like new again. Eris is truly an amazing device. :)
