Get the "juice defender" app. It shuts down the functions you dont need when your phone is on standby it saves a lot. Get pro and you'll be able to select what to shut down and what to leave up.

Try - wifi settings, menu key, advanced, sleep policy, when screen is off

wouldnt that make it worse, i thought 3g used up more battery than wifi?

is there such a setting for 3g?

I believe it will still use wifi if it needs it when the screen is off, it just wont keep i on constantly. Try it and check your battery life. Mine is now much better with 2.3.3 and I'm sure this settings helps too.

You can only disable 3g via the network settings, change it to gprs only, instead of auto this will make a big difference to your battery.

i downloaded a battery booster app for mine, it now lasts 2 days instead of 1 before needing a charge, even if im using it lots :)

Any explanation with regard to applications running, wi-fi etc. are BS as far as I'm concerned. My wife had the phone for a year and always complained about the battery life. Finally, after a year, it simply would not charge at all.

Rogers sent a replacement, I started using the phone and my wife got an iPhone 4s. She is very happy with the iPhone and I am miserable! Today I charged the phone and it took longer to charge the battery to 100% than it took for the battery to drain again. The kicker is, I didn't even use the damn thing!

To top it all off, the stupid thing doesnt' even adjust when you hold it horizontally anymore. I had a BlackBerry Bold before and I wasn't happy with it either, but at least it held a charge. Let's face it, Apple is the standard, end of story. Don't be fooled by the Android rhetoric.

Ive had my SGS for 2 years now and I was always furious about the battery.
Would only last half a day on very light use (dictionary, wifi, and some kakao talk).
By the time I got home from work I would have to charge it before I went to bed so it would last through the night.

Then, at night it would drain about 30%.....while I was sleeping.
I am not too sure why it did this, but I am guessing it has something to do with the stock firmware and wifi (my phone would never sleep....battery stats said it was always awake).

Anyway, the other day, I was reading about Battery Calibration, so I gave it a go.
My phone lasts for 30+ hours now after using that app.....(I have also been using Nakyup ROM and Kernel).

Thing is, usually when I would charge my phone, it would be finished and I would unplug it, instantly the battery would drop down to about 92%.
What I do now is plug it back in and about 10 mins, unplug it and plug it back in again.
Keep doing this until when I unplug it, the battery stays at 100%.......
