Root Apex question

As you guys know, I love flashing themes but I have yet to flash a rom so I'm not too familiar with them. I'm running, like everyone else, 2.3 official with a few of bouchigo's mods and was wondering what I have to do to prepare for flashing Apex?

Is it pretty straight forward and I would just flash it as it sits? If my understanding is correct ( what I do understand) I can flash Apex onto the 2.3 GB and flash a theme but it has to be a theme made for Apex?

I wanna try this out because everyone says the DX runs the fastest on Apex.

You are correct, once your on Apex then you can only use themes made for Apex.

Apex is indeed wonderful.

well first of all...I don't think Fab has completed a port of Apex onto .596 if he has then i'm unaware.

Yes if you flash a theme it has to be made for Apex

Also this is just something i always do. i assume as soon as you put .596 on your phone you made a nandroid backup correct (<---this should be second nature fyi) if so I would label it something like "stock rooted .596" so this way you can quickly go back to it then flash whatever rom/theme you want. Then if you don't like what your currently running just do a restore back to your starting point. Like i said that is just the way i do it others may do it differently.

You may can just apply a rom over your current build with the mods but i don't really know. The mods may cause issues. So that is why i say go back to straight .596 with no mods and start from there applying roms/themes

That's great to know. Now what about actually flashing Apex? Am I good to go now or do I have to do something to my X first?

EDIT: O'k, thanks trophy. I made a backup right after flashing the .596. Remembering the file name? That's a different story.....lol. But if thats what I need to do then so be it.

but if you are on the .596 of GB dont flash anything unless you sbf back to stock, then flash the 3 part series of .588 and then flash apex, and his kernel updater to get you to .591. other than that, you will need to wait for apex on .596

Yes I know it isn't out for .596 yet. I will wait on it though and just continue to play with my setup while I wait. Just to have everything running at peak performance I will SBF my phone to 2.2.1 and take the LONG trek back up the GB ladder to a point where I can flash Apex.

usually when Fab releases Apex he is pretty good on instructing you how and where you need to be on your phone when you install his Rom. ..just fyi you can look at past Apex roms and see that.

the backup you made when you first went to .596 ...which i assume was in the last three or four days will have the date in the title. Just find it and rename it.

Yeah I see he is in beta now. Hopefully soon he will have everything set smooth as silk for the .596.

im sure he will ...but fwiw he will probably gut a lot of the blur to favor a more stock GB look. You may have the option through his terminal window to add certain parts back in.
