I have recently got DHD and am all new to the android phones! I switched from iOS to Android because I was expecting things to be competitive to iphone yet not better. But, in my 3 days experience so far with android, I have come across a few glitches which I think are a major concern for ANY android user. 1st, the htc sense website almost always stays down. The hourglass keeps rotating for ages and nothing I see expect the 'transferring from page' message in my browser and when RARELY it does show up, it then stays at the 'dashboard' and does not load anything.

2nd major concern I see is the absence of applications from the Android Market. Seriously, I switched from iphone to android because of the number of applications android has (although it is still lesser than iphone apps). But, I do not see some of the MAIN apps like Skype, msn live messenger, angry birds etc. And when I try to download an application it says 'this item is not present in your device's country'. I bought it from Saudi arabia which makes it unbranded I am sure and I guess the device's country it shows is UAE.

Any suggestions, opinions would be helpful.

Well that's not a problem with Android or the Market. That's a problem with THAT website.

Apple has a few more apps, but Android has way more free apps than apple.

Well there's your problem. Android market is not available in all countries.

So that's what I am trying to figure out that why doesn't Google people do anything about the htc sense website since this is the main feature of android phones?

U might be right about the android market not being available in all countries BUT, I was getting the 'this item is not available in your device's country' for Angry birds app but just now I refreshed it a few times and it started downloading and now is installed! What is this all about? I am guessing this is a bug in the Android market which is causing this error when it shouldn't be.

FYI, HTC sense is a HTC service and as such Google has absolutely NO control over it.
Not sure about you other problems though they are probably related to where you got phone vs where you are trying to use it.....

Actually to be fair to Android, getting an app to run seam-lessly across various hardware devices is a very difficult task. In this aspect, iPhone or iPad does not suffer since the hardware config are tied closely to the iOS. This tight binding allow any iPhone app to run almost seam-lessly from developer point of view.

In this aspect, I believe Android developers have more headaches compared to iPhone/iPad developers. This is also one of the reasons why certain companies rather develop on a "fixed" hardware platform than to deal with all possible hardware incompatibilities that can break your code easily.

Dude, to solve your problem you need:
Another ROM (from different country).
or
Root your phone (jailbreak) and install "Market Enabler" which allows you to temporarily set your phone as being from a list of countries which have full access.

so it would be appropriate if you could point me to some guide to all this ROM, jailbreaking etc methods as I am all new here and I would love to have full access to the android market. Btw, my phone is unbranded so doesn't it make it already jailbroken (rooted)?

And it would also be appropriate for you to spend some time browsing on here if you are new. Look in the subforum for your phone, then go to the All Things Root section. There are TONS of guides and faq's.

No.
