So....uh Scotty....wanna loan me or allow me to buy your old Eris?
Unless you are willing to part with your Inc?
yeah... ummm... no.
also, thot id point out that, unless it has changed since i had my ally, that you cant just play with a phone for 14 days and take it back with with no consequence. true they will allow you to return it,but unless you are exchanging the phone for another of the same phone because of some sort of malfunction not fixable by doing a factory reset or pushing software in the store, they will charge you a $35 restocking fee if you decide its not the phone you want.
my ally sucked the battery down like crazy(50% bug if anyone remembers that... it plauged the eris also),was laggy and constantly force closed stuff. because SO MANY people had returned them,i was able to "sweet talk" my way into simply returning it,and waving the restocking fee. but i did have 3 lines with no contracts to use as leverage
Well, now that Apple finally fixed the crappy notification problem in iOS, maybe I'll just get an iPhone instead. No crapware that way, either.
i dont like apple because of steve jobs and his holier than thou attitude with his market apps, and the fact that its closed source so there is no rooting and roming like there is with android.
however... since you brought it up...
apple makes a great product. they pay alot off attention to detail that do make their phones a pleasure to use. if you want something that you wont ever have to root, and will just automatically work, and work well,an iphone would be an excellent choice. depending on how much memory you need(no removeable memory is another thing i personally dont like about apple) you can defiantely get a non-4g iphone in your price range. patience will prolly yield a 4g capable iphone 5 if you consider 4g to be important.
I'd still have an Eris to play with. However, the iPhone suddenly looks a lot more attractive - it's the right size, has a beautiful display, plenty of great apps (now even a matching great Tweetdeck client), and, as I said, little to no crapware. And it works just fine with Gmail, Google calendar, Google contacts, etc. Every single app that I run on Android has an equivalent iOS app. I really have to think about this one. Timing may be bad to get an iPhone 4 in August, though. (However, I'd still have my wife's phone update to use if something came up a year down the line...)
i have an ipod(that i addmittedly like alot
) and there are actually a couple of iOS apps that dont have an android equiivalent. if you get an iphone check out "skygrid",wich is sort of a streaming news app- you can browse by categories and see instantly all the internet reportings of various topics(my favorite is "mobile"
) its where i see alot of the reports of new stuff thats comin out.
the 2nd app i long for an android version of is a chipotle app... my sister uses it on her iphone all the time. you can preorder, pay, walk out the door and when you get to the store its waiting up front for you... just walk around that huge line that their always is and pick it up
tho since my ipod is an ipod and not a phone,i havent checked it the other way... im not sure if there are any android apps i cant live without with no iOS equivalnet. ill havta check that out
