Help contacts lost!

so you know how I feel. Can anyone help me plz. I synched this stupid phone and it DELETED all my contacts that were not on the phone, needless to say since this is a new phone I lost pretty much all my contacts in Outlook.

Beside the fact that the calendar sux, the phone is a lousy phone and it comes with a gazillion programs I can't get rid of and will never use.

Did I miss something was this supposed to be an ex[ensive computer game it cetainly isn't anything I would call productive. SO MISS MY BB and I never thought I would say that.

I have figgin Thunderbolt. I synched my new phone with Outlook 2007 on my computer and the stupid phone deleted all of my contacks from the computer and added a stupid HTC favorites folder. Now I have lost 2 years worth of business contacts. So if I can get my contacts back how do I prevent this a$$anine phone from deleting my contacts again.l

Yeah, syncing a phone with ur computer should not delete the contacts on the computer. You should be syncing with gmail anyway for your contacts.

Beside the fact that the calendar sux

It would help if you told us what you dont like about your calendar. There are plenty of other calendar apps out there.

the phone is a lousy phone

Then why did you buy it? You had a 30 day return policy, you could have returned it and gone back to your iphone.

and it comes with a gazillion programs I can't get rid of and will never use.

ANY phone comes with things you wont use. And that's the beauty of android, if you dont want to use those apps, YOU DON HAVE TO USE THEM.

the stupid phone deleted all of my contacks from the computer and added a stupid HTC favorites folder. Now I have lost 2 years worth of business contacts. So if I can get my contacts back how do I prevent this a$$anine phone from deleting my contacts again.l

And again, the phone didn't delete the contacts, YOU DID. And it's not the phone's fault you had two years of important contacts and didn't back them up anywhere.

And before this escalates out of hand, can we please keep the tone of this thread down to a dull roar? We want to help Android_sux find a solution... K?

1 Verizon has moved to 14 day longer 30 days and I work so I am stuck with this phone.

2 I did not delete the phone did whenit also added an HTC folder that was not there, should I have know that it would delete contacts, I'm sorry that is STUPID programing

3 the calendar can not handle tues/ thurs for three week. You can do tue - thur, you can do tue the 1 to thur 14 but no way to do a specific set of days.

4 Why did I spend $200 on a phone to then have to buy app.

5 All these useless app take up space and clutter the phone. Let me install what I want or at least let me remove the ones I don't want.

I see that this is a case of the emporor has no clothes. Obviously you all love the android system and drank the kool aid so there fore are not receptive to sopmeone being critical.

As a shop owner I learn more from people who tell me whats wrong then ppl who say every thing is all right. So let make you all feel better. THIS IS HTE BEST PHONE AND OS TO DATE, IT IS BETTER THAN SLICED BREAD.

To anyone who might have wanted to help thank you and I apologize I was so upset butthis phone is not a business phone, might be good for surfing the net, watching a video. But for serious work this phone does not cut it. I am going to put it on Ebay and cut my losses

Ok, so you still had 14 days. If you hate this phone so much, why didn't you take it back?

2 I did not delete the phone did whenit also added an HTC folder that was not there, should I have know that it would delete contacts, I'm sorry that is STUPID programing

Once again, no it didnt. The phone doesn't have a mind of its own, its not self-aware. And NO phone is programmed to delete people's contacts without asking the person first.

3 the calendar can not handle tues/ thurs for three week. You can do tue - thur, you can do tue the 1 to thur 14 but no way to do a specific set of days.

Well there are tons of calendar apps in the Market that I am sure will do this. I dont know any myself, hopefully someone knows one. If not, just download a few and try them

4 Why did I spend $200 on a phone to then have to buy app.

Nobody said you have to buy one, there are TONS of free apps in the market. And this is the beauty of Android, EVERYONE can customize their phone to their liking by just simply downloading a new app.

5 All these useless app take up space and clutter the phone.

They don't take up that much space on that new phone. Let's put it this way: when you install enough apps to fill your internal memory, then you can come back here and bitch. But I highly doubt that will happen. My phone has only 100mb internal memory for apps, and I have over 100 apps installed and still have free space left.

Let me install what I want or at least let me remove the ones I don't want.

You can if you root. Otherwise, just deal with it. EVERY carrier puts stuff on phones that people dont like. It's called advertising. I hate ads on websites, they clutter everything up. But guess what, without those ads, the website you are on wouldn't exist. And without the extra apps on your phone, you probably would have paid double for it.

Obviously you all love the android system

Yes we do. Why do you think it has become the best selling OS in just under 2 years?

Wow, there's a lot going on here. Obviously, the OP had already decided that "Android_Sux" when they registered for the site. Can we assume, you had this problem, then came here to register and then receive help?

If so, I've found that the folks on this site are some of the most knowledgeable, and helpful Android-geeks on the web. I've found that whenever I've asked for helpful in an objective, calm manner, clearly stated what the problem was, and what I wanted to be able to do--they are able to help with providing a solution.

If you'd still like help, and don't just want to vent and complain, I'd recommend that you answer these questions directly, and not provide other "commentary" on the operating system as a whole. If you've already decided to sell it, let me know how much, maybe I'll take it!!

1. Tell us what you did to sync your phone. (i.e.: I plugged the device in to the computer..then opened _________ and then clicked ___________)

2. What Windows OS are you using?

Once you can tell us what you did, we might be able to find out what went wrong, and how we might be able to help you recover the contacts. I assure you, it's not the phone being "a$$anine" or "stupid", we can figure it out.

Also, I would recommend not using Outlook anyway, it's archaic. If you are the shop owner, you have the ability to use whatever method you want, and you should want something better than Outlook. Use Google Apps for your gmail--I manage a national-based not for profit, and I wouldn't think of using Outlook for our purposes.

+1

Also, maybe you should just use a rolodex. You obviously came on here just to complain under the guise of wanting help. Imagine someone came into your "business" just to complain how awful your "business" was even though they weren't allowing you to help them rectify the situation. The people on here don't even own HTC, they just want to help and you're being difficult.

Outlook is fine for me, I don't want to learn all new google apps just to use a phone. Yes I was fustrated when I came on here and yes I vented But I really was looking for help. Don't worry I see that if I am not signing the praises of Google and android all I will get is attacked. BTW I am a shop owner not a geek, so all I know is I hooked up the phone clicked on sync phone book and voila my contacts are gone. No I did not check the settings, why would I begin to think a program would delete contacts. Sorry that is stupid, no other way to put it. But I wish you all a good day I am stuck with this phone now for 2 years of hell and will simply tell everyone who see;'s the phone that unless they LOVE google don't bother.

And yes ppl come in bitching and I step back and say ok how can I make this better, even if it is not my fault. But then again I need them to pay the bills.

BTW Mods you can take this down I don't think I will be getting any help here so I won't be bothering to come back. Enjoy your phones and each other

I think most people on here would love to help you, but your tone and messages are coming across more like you just want to hate on the phone. If that is the case, then you made your point. Sell the phone and get something else. Otherwise, if you want to learn how to use it and actually get some help, then take it down about 10 notches and just ask for help.

Then why did you buy a Google phone if you dont want to use anything google?

No I did not check the settings, why would I begin to think a program would delete contacts.

And for a third time, the phone didn't delete your contacts.

I am stuck with this phone now for 2 years of hell

And again, it's not our fault you didn't return the phone if you didn't like it. 14 days is plenty enough time to figure out if you like a phone or not. And it's not our fault that you are too stubborn and unwilling to learn something new. Android wouldn't be so popular unless it was very user friendly and accommodating, and it is. Again, sorry your contacts got deleted, but that's not the phone's fault. And if that and the calendar are the only reason you hate the phone, well then I'm sorry but I don't think you will ever find a phone that would suit you then.

And nothing is stopping your from either selling the phone and getting a different one, or stop the whining and ask for our help to get this phone working for you.
