Root Can't Backup Photos

I've got many pictures on my HTC EVO4G but I honestly don't know if they're stored on the local phone memory of on my micro SD flash card. Is there a way I can make sure all my photos are moved to the S.D. card and not local phone memory? I don't want to loose them before I root my cell phone.

All the pictures will be stored on the sd card. One way you can check on them is to download ES File Explorer from the market. Then open up the app and all of the pictures that you've taken with the phone will be in your dcim folder. Others that you've downloaded will be in the downloads folder

If/when you root your phone, the sd card will not be affected by the rooting process. Just DO NOT WIPE sd card

You can also transfer your pictures to your computer for safe keeping

Thanks. I will simply verify my pics on the SD card and then remove it for the root process. Is there anything I should know before rooting my phone? I've never done it before and it seems there are so many different ways to do so.

If you need some more information, look at the Rooting for Dummies guide in the All Things Root section for the Evo. There's some valuable information in there for new rooters

There are to solid ways to root as long as you are still running Froyo/2.2. Root has not been found for Gingerbread/2.3.3

1. Look at the rooting for Dummies guide and as long as you follow directions well, unrevoked will root your phone

2. [ROOT] ~~~ HTC EVO - Auto Root ~~~ v2.5 (4/25/11) - xda-developers This is the way I rooted with no troubles.

Thanks! I found the thread. Just to be clear that rooting will remove all these useless junk applications like Blockbuster, Amazon, NascarTV, etc etc etc, right?

Rooting in general will not but if you decide to flash a custom rom, some developers take out most of the bloatware. You can also keep your stock rooted rom and use something like Titanium Backup from the market and delete them yourself. But make sure you do your homework on which ones you can delete, some are critical for your phone to work
