How long is it supposed to take to update? NPS is still stuck at 0% on Step 3 and it's been like that for half an hour already.

Yes I've got it working now. It's because I am on Windows 7 x64 and so have to use NPC from within Virtual PC. When the phone rebooted I needed to reattach the USB devices to the virtual machine.

What's meant to be improved or otherwise in this release? I thought the lock button had improved but I'm not so sure now.

this is actually new, ik4 was leaked about 1-2 months ago but o2 didnt make it official or launch hardware with this version.
seems its now official
now that its been made official i may be able to find out what was changed in this release

aww poo - And I just updated to IK5 two days ago!

Was on last o2 official release but flashed to IK5 (without CSC) as battery life was distressing! wouldn't last a day!

Is it easy enough to 'downgrade' to an older firmware? as I'd rather stick with whats official for now.... (especially as I'm on an o2 sim in the UK).

Uninstalled all apps (obviously as hard reset) and been running IK5 without Background Data for solid 24hours with no battery useage! wtf.... hmmmm.

Subjectively, battery usage seems improved. I have had wifi idling on all day and whilst that would have kained the battery on the old firmware, its actually gone up from 90% to 94%... wtf... hmmmm indeed.

Just downloaded it ready to be flashed - info on FUS is as follows:

Wierd how it uses CSC from IK5...... I know a couple of peeps on this forum have reverted back to IK4 from IK5 due to some minor bugs so I think I will too just to keep things all o2 official.

For God's sake, if you personally had no problems with IK5, why downgrade!?

It's O2's own fault that they're so slow to give green light to new firmware versions (or Samsung's fault to submit those slowly to the operators).

OMG NPS actually worked :O I had to reinstall it granted, and now my phone is upgraded it won't recognise it again - but this is a definate step up from samsung

I'm downgrading as I was using an italian ROM (IK5ITA) on a UK phone.
I missed off the CSC (which I'm assuming is for operator based stuff) when I upgraded to IK5 hence why I would rather stay with an official full o2 rom.

And I was having issues with IK5 caning my battery

Are my actions now logical?

updated from 02 official II4 to IK4 via NPS, worked first time
all looks ok so far.

noticed that the sample rate in ADyno has improved from ~220ms (stable) to ~40ms (marked as high/unreliable?!?)

You can really notice the difference in Raging Thunder Lite. Before (II5) it was almost impossible to steer, but with IK4 it reacts much quicker and smother to input.

Upgraded with Odin to overwrite my German CSC (ebay.de before UK lanch) with O2UK. Only updated last night, but so far very happy.

I just updated my galaxy on O2 contract, updated fine, but when I tried to update my other galaxy, unlocked on 3 network, it said there was an update for ik4, hit the button to update and it said "No file to download".

Is this due to the other galaxy not being on O2? If so will a quick swap of the sim to my O2 one work for the update, and will the phone remain unlocked after the update?
