I have the same problem, using any application other than the built in camera app, I am presented with the Force Close/Wait/Report option and have to reboot the phone otherwise the battery drains within a few mins.

are you all using any camera apps, if so thats the problem...uninstall the app and reboot the phone and problem solve.

Ya you can't use Google Goggles, Tag Reader, any barcode scanner, etc.

A few days ago I got CM7 0624 running on my girlfriend's phone and mine the same day, first try, everything went very smooth and runs pretty well. It's occasionally unpredictable, the occasional "app not responding" hangs, and every couple of days it may randomly reboot, but oh well. The biggest problem I had was the new MAC addys, having both phones on the same ROM means they both have the same MAC, so they don't play nicely together trying to use my WiFi at the same time. Fortunately, I have a second wireless router set up as an access point in another room, so I connected one phone to one router and one to the other router and everything is fine.

The REAL problem I have is that I seem to have no root. Oddly, most apps that can detect if the phone is rooted say that it is, when I load them, Superuser pops up and I click allow, and then it fails out and says root required. This happens on every app that needs root access that I have tried, including wireless tethering, rom manager, root explorer, and a few more that I can't think of right now. I loaded up Z4 and it showed the phone as rooted and gave me an option to re-root, but it just hangs on executing exploit. Any ideas how I can get my root access working?

Ya you can't use Google Goggles, Tag Reader, any barcode scanner, etc.

If you use install the gapps zip that goes with these roms, it gives you the option to install various modded google apps that work with CM7. I use goggles all the time, especially as a QR barcode scanner with no problems.

Tried it, didn't help. I loaded into recovery mode and did a "fix permissions" and then rebooted. I loaded up Wireless Tether for Root and clicked to start tethering, superuser popped up and I clicked allow and then it says "Unable to start tethering. Is your device rooted?"

Ah so you have to use the special modded apps, what about when those get updated? I ask because I installed the gapps when installing CM7 but then I also installed the updates for them as well.

I'm pretty sure you need to go into android market and set auto updates to off / application specific. You can then look up each of the google apps and set them to not update. The updates from the market are originals that don't seem to work right with CM7.

I tried Wireless Tether for Root Users, and since it didn't work, I tried Barnacle. Barnacle ends with Could not execute setup, could not start the process!
I downloaded an app called Root Check. It says it got root user access just fine, but could not find a working busybox.
I tried downloading Busybox Installer, which also found the phone rooted and located busybox at /system/xbin. But then on an install it says Failure! /system/xbin could not be remounted as RW!

Also any commands entered from the Terminal Emulator that comes with just respond with "Segmentation Fault"

I'm currently using cm7 it's running great but I'm noticing something when trying to exit out my apps. When I had Icarus I could push my end button and exit out of an app but now I can't do that. When I hit the end button now my phone jumps to the lock screen and when I unlock it the app is still running. So I hit the back button continually until I get back to home screen and that's how I exit out of the app. Is it just my phone or is this happening to others? Sometimes as I hit the back button trying to exit the app it begins to loop through different apps until I pull the battery than its back working properly. Any suggestions as to why it does this or is there a fix coming, or is it just my phone?

go to app drawer and scroll down and tap "spare parts" go to end button behavior and tap it and select go to home.

Just flashed Bobz 0708 build and so far so good.. Awesome work.. Now just need to drop kick the phone until it straightens up and works flawless w / 729

For those that have a really lazy Ascend, that can't get the 710MHz or my latest 729MHz installed...here is an very low Over Clocked edition: CM7.1RC1-Ascend-BobZ672-070811.zip This version only goes up to 672 MHz, so those that have had problems in the past installing CM7, should be able to with this version.

i've been playing with my settings, it takes a long time if not at all to send pic messaging, i set it at 729 w/performance doing well. i also notice that your Mod version is 0514 rom, i thought it was Isaac's latest version. still good though. love the screenshot app addon, very cool thanx...

That's the busybox installer I already tried that can't remount /system/xbins to install. I tried Titanium, but it says it can't get root access, even after I allow it root access through superuser.

in rom manager > download roms > extras > Superuser 2.3.6.3 efgh. Download that n flash it with CWM. If you just have the free version you will have to wait to try it mon - fri.

Well I gave up, wiped the phone, completely reinstalled the ROM and this time everything is functional. Superuser and busybox work great, and I can tether. Thanks for all your help!

im trying to install cm7 i dowloaded the file from the guide here i followed everything right and then i get stuckk on the screen with {ascend] then m860 on the side to the right the screen is black adn red on top and there is the android robot on the bottom left side

did you load CM7 first, then GAPPS second?
