Finally something encouraging: Samsung's whipping up something Aug. 29 - looks like the Galaxy S II | Android Central

Personally, I will probably get whatever comes out first of the Galaxy S2 or the Bionic. But after seeing pics of the Bionic, it looks like an absolute brick, and the S2 is just so sleak and sexy. I really hope they announce the Verizon S2 at this thing and that the release will be within a couple of weeks after the announcement.

I agree it will be good to finally get the SGS2 details. Although need to be prepared for them saying SGS2 won't be coming to Verizon. I have mixed feelings about this, because while that would be a bummer, if Samsung is making the Prime, them skipping verizon for SGS2 might be setting us up to get the Prime for sure. I would take that trade. Droid Nexus Prime? Sounds AWESOME.

Hmm, that won't be too bad. If they assure us that Verizon is getting Nexus Prime instead in Q4...

Hopefully they will end a lot of speculations on it in good way! They must throw in one of new Sammy beasts from leaked list yesterday. Single core slider 4G won't cut it.

Stratosphere on 09/08 is going to be single core 4G slider
Illusion on 09/29 is going to be the Galaxy S2

I think the timing just works out that way, the Illusion is a month after this August 29th announcement..

No way it comes out a week after the announcement on the same day as the Bionic, I can't see how that's a good idea for anyone..

Has anyone noticed that the Samsung Event will be held at The Shops at Columbus Circle, on the Third Floor at a store called The Samsung Experience?

It's a big mall in New York.

Does anyone live anywhere near there? I can't imagine they can keep it completely free of the general public plastering their faces at the windows, being in a freaking mall on a weekday at 6pm.

Have no idea what their source is, or even if they have one. May be a traffic magnet, but I thought I'd throw it out there:

Samsung Galaxy S II Verizon Full Specifications And Price Details - Gadgetian

Just food for thought...

Seems like the OG Galaxy S2 spec list, but they added in an LTE row. Notice how they forgot the standby and talk times for 4G at the bottom. You'd think they would have that in the real specs if they talk of 4G.

The CPU listed is the same Exynos that's overseas, nothing changed there, although we've seen leaks with other processors like a Snapdragon and such.

As per normal, time will tell.

Yeah, I noted that too. Seems a little suspicious, but I love the "Candybar" description if it's real. Take it on board for what you think it's worth.

I also thought this looks suspicious. Especially the Exynos processor part. Then I came across this news and maybe Sammy might surprise us with Exynos in all US SGSII? This is Hercules heading to Canadian TELUS but that kind of performance is not territory of 1.2Ghz dual snapdragon...

That's kind of quadrant score that SGSII has been getting in most reviews since its first launch oversea. 1.2Ghz dual snapdragon would do about 2200~2400 on quadrant (Sensation, Evo 3D). This makes me wonder Exynos might end up in all US SGSII after all.

If Verizon SGSII gets Exynos plus LTE, that would be like dream comes true. But I guess chance of that is slim. I think it would be either Exynos with 3G or dual snapdragon with 4G.

I'm just back from my family vacation to Sequoia park. Wow, many big news happened this week like Google buying Motorola and some more info on US SGS2. Hope Google doesn't dump their other phone partners as I don't think they can be like Apple. They can't afford to lose Samsung, HTC, LG in my opinion.

I would also love to have Exynos processor in SGS2 phone but 1.5GHz dual core snapdragon would work for me as well.
