Extended battery timeframe

I'm coming from an HTC Droid Incredible with the HTC extended battery (2150mah). I've made my peace with the size and I've really come to love the extra battery life. I've heard that Motorola phones have better battery life than HTC phones but I still may find myself wanting an extended battery for the Bionic.

Does Motorola typically offer extended batteries? If so, what is the estimated timeline for release relative to the phone's release?

I have not heard anything but judging from the talk here, the Bionic will not need one, a few threads down has reported life at 15+ hours between charging.

As for time span for the release, prob about the same as other mfg. if they do one.

15+ hours of charge is going to be highly subjective, and those of us leading a highly active social / online life will see significantly lower times. Our DROIDs were advertised 8-10 hours - with OCing and underclocking, I wa sable to get more - until I started keeping a large internet presence on my phone.

Now, I'm lucky to 5. It's why I have a second battery for the phone.

I'm sure that if Moto doesn't make an extended battery, someone *else* will.

I hope I won't need an extended battery and I do expect the Bionic to have pretty good battery life. Having said that, I'm the kind of person that is on my phone a lot and I like to leave the screen on the brightest setting, etc. For me, it's worth the extra bulk and weight if I can get a significant increase in battery life.

I have purchased extended batteries for my last 3 phones, 2 Sam Sung and my current Motorola Droid X. If I remember correctly they came out within the first month or two. The X extended battery was the quickest I think.... real close to launch day.

Just as an aside, the info regarding the upcoming Dinara worries me because it says it will have a non-replacable battery. I thought a customer replacable battery was a Verizon requirement. (One of the reasons Verizon originally turned down the iPhone) Of course I guess they made an exception for the iPhone now, and also, maybe the Dinara is not coming to Verizon. I guess we'll see.

Maybe Yodadroid (who said he got 15 hours) has a highly active social/online life as well...

No one knows until we get it.

Some have 17 widgets for every known social service on their homescreen, some do not. Some connect to our home systems using a variety of remote control apps, including SSH, RDP, and VNC, some do not. Some of us run businesses via our phones, some do not. Some have the phone there for a multitude of apps that can be used every now and again, and some only install the most basic of apps with little overhead.

I agree with johnlgalt... just because one person said they have an "online social life" and that the battery lasted 15 hours for them could mean anything... it could mean that they checked their e-mail and replied to a few items... and checked their facebook a few times and and posted a few times.

Hey, I have an online social life too and my HTC Droid Incredible (known for having bad battery life) lasts me about 15 hours a day too!

I never argued that, I am simply making the point that no one knows how the Bionic was used before it was in the red on the battery...

It wouldn't matter if the damn picture was taken with 100% battery life, it doesn't make any difference.

P.S. I was asking how you knew this based on this part of your post "those of us leading a highly active social / online life will see significantly lower times" again, for all you know he HAS a highly active social /online life...

I realize that I may have made my last post seem a bit odd, that is what I get for posting when I am very tired haha.

It's like I've stated in the DROID forums - neither are we, as individuals, going to use the phone in exactly the same manner, but the mass production of the components of the phone, plus the mass production of the phone itself as one final piece, all lend a hand into making each phone rather unique in terms of performance of both each component individually and the phone as a whole. All we have to go on right now is the performance of a single phone (from what we know / assume). I'd love it if 15+ hours was a very conservative estimate, but at the end of the day, it's just that - an estimate.

Think along the terms of EPA gas mileage ratings.
