Root White Evo 4G Screen After Installing Mods But....

So, I've been playing with custom ROMS and having this issue of my Evo 4G.

The steps:

• Install the ROM zip file to my SD card.
• Boot into recovery
• Wipe User Data
• Wipe partition cache
• Wipe Delvik's Cache (or whatever it's called )
• Install ROM from zip card by choosing it.
• Reboot

No matter what ROM I've tried, it just stays on EVO 4G white screen. The only solution I've found is totally reformat my SD card. Then they seem to work.

Thoughts?

I'm not sure what wiping partition cache is.
My system that has worked so far is thus.

1. boot recovery
2. nandroid backup
3. wipe cache
4. wipe davlik cache
5. wipe data
6. flash rom zip
7. reboot

works every time.

Ok, I'm using ClockWork - again this is weird because if I format the SD card completely, put the ROM on and then do the steps, it works. Ofcourse, I'd hate to do this every time I want to do a ROM.

You should switch to Amon Ra. I see on these forums everyday people having issues and almost always they are on CWM then someone suggests Amon Ra and we never hear back from them again .

Ok, the verdict is...........

I now have Amon Ra installed and repeated the steps. Still the white EVO 4G screen. I'm going to try a ROM that I know I had running, just to see if it's the ROM.

Try downloading the rom again then flashing it. I'm thinking it's either a bad download or in a very rare case the rom is not stable enough to run on your phone.

how long are you waiting? it can take anywhere from 5-30 minutes depending on the rom. be patient it will boot up as long as you are wiping correctly.

I was waiting at least 15-20 mins. But it should have a status, not just Evo 4G screen. I think it's the ROM itself. Other ones are working fine.

I used directors cut, Total flash took about 5 minutes

I read it cannot work with 004 Evos? Not sure what I have - I'll have to find out.

roms should not be hardware dependent. i have a 004 and was able to flash it awhile ago. no problem. are you ipimg data, dlavik cache, and cache. are you using the vr siperwipe?

Yes, doing the wipes. But not sure what vr siperwipe is.

in the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/395962-guide-rooting-gingerbread-revolutionary.html sticky, there is a section on flashing. it also has the instrcutions on how to use the vr superwipe. check it out.

and since your having issues flashing this try and wipe three times then flash the superwipe then flash the rom.
