it is optional, what it does is that it wipes system, data, boot, and cache three times and then it wipes the temp. files three times. couple that with wiping data, dalvik cache and cache will give your rom a super clean environment to install your rom.

yep exactly. i wipe data, dalvik cache and cache 3x then do the superwipe then flash my rom. i know that is overkill but it works. never had any issues.
I flashed the mikg2.5 its awsome played around a little with it then nandroided back to see how well that works. So because of work ill leave it as is till saturday and then i can get everything the way i want it and deciede witch rom im going to use.
