Question about music players

First off, Doubletwist and PowerAmp seem to be fairly popular. I've tried the free versions of both, and I kinda like PowerAmp better. Any other ones worth taking a look at?

Anyway, the more important question... I've noticed with both players, that there doesn't seem to be a way to stop playback. I don't just mean pausing playback, I mean actually stopping playback completely until I want to open the app up again and reshuffle my songs. Is there any way to do this that I'm just not getting?

Once its paused and you have left the screen it stops.. well sort of it still runs as a service due to the widget....

Well, yeah, it stops actually playing, but it still retains the queued song list and (I assume) the time position in the song when you paused it. Is there no way to stop it completely, so that it's not still queued up in the background?

Also, while not a question about music players specifically, I noticed that a number of my songs lose their info when I copy them over to my phone. I have all my album info and everything set on my songs (I manage my music via iTunes, since I've had iPods), but when I open the music folder on my phone and copy the songs over, some of them will lose their info. So, on my phone, they show "Unknown Artist" and/or "Unknown Album", etc. How do I stop this from happening?

There are some free apps like "ID3Fixer" that can fix up your ID3 tags-- which sometimes appear on your PC/Mac but not on Android (apparently due to a bug in Android).

I own an Optimus S (which has relatively low output volume) so I couldn't live with PowerAmp which also has a lower-than-normal output volume (even if you adujust the pre-amp settings).

I like WinAmp as a player. It's free and it includes Internet radio station streaming.

I also like TuneWiki. It's also free. The UI isn't quite as intuitive as WinAmp, but it includes Internet radio station streaming, LastFM scrobbling, it displays synchronized lyrics for most songs (whether they're stored on your phone or streaming from the Internet), and it can listen to & identify songs playing in the room (like SoundHound). The one downside is that it's not good at going back to your playlist to see and adjust the que while you're playing music.

As of android 2.2 you can use ,other audio players should listen for this focus change request and can stop/pause/lower volume of their audio according to what type of audio your focus requests. However not all audio playing apps have bothered to implement this yet.
To be nice you should also listen for audio focus change requests from other apps and pause your apps audio accordingly.

On earlier versions of android calling mediaPlayer.setAudioStreamType(AudioManager.STREAM_MUSIC); will usually stop any other music from playing

If I were you I would give PlayerPro a shot, I have tried multiple players but always end up going back to PlayerPro. It should also solve your problem with not finding the artist names, or album artwork.

I second playerpro, I haven't given a lot of players a shot and playerpro was my favorite. Right now I am using the stock google app because I am also signed up for google music.
