Root MetroPCS EVO-ALL INFO HERE+[ROM] Metrogenmod 7.1

Im still on sprint but i already order service with cricket instead do to the 3g service in my area. I was trying to root my phone but learned that my 2.3.3 means im screwed. The cricket store by my house says they can flash it to work on their network and will make everything work... I dont know how that would be possible unless they downgrade and root it, but from what i read from a few people from metro it is do-able some how to flash the evo to work on metro or cricket without having it rooted, just not sure how they are doing it. if anyone knows please tell me... im going nuts lol

Anyway, Cricket wants 100 bucks to flash my phone and 55 per month for the android service... I may just do that since im screwed and cant root my phone myself... otherwise hello 35 dollar plan... but sucks to be me...

If anyone knows any updates or a way to go around this let me know... I been on a ton o forums looking up info but nothing also.

I wonder if they are gonna downgrade the 2.3.3 i have no clue... anyway... just wanted to share that with you guys.

I have a evo and had a corporate store flash my phone to metro pcs. My guess is they used houdini to flash the phone because im on2.3.3 as well with no root. That's my guess

I flashed having a problem flashing the MetroPCS Evo AOSP MMS & Web Script v4. I receive an installation abort message stating CWM 3 only works with edify. I want to get MMS and data to work.. Any suggestions??

you need to switch recoveries to either clockwork mod 2.6 or amon ra 2.3 basically clockworm mod 3 and up only supports edify scripts while most flashable zips use a script called amend. both amon ra 2.3 and clockwork mod 2.6 have support for both. you can switch recoveries here:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/395962-guide-rooting-gingerbread-revolutionary.html sticky. there is a switching recoveries section with instructions on how to do it.

Ok, well, I got my EVO on mikg 2.5 with more freedom universal and tried flashing metro pcs mms script for hybrid 2.1/3.0 sense.still haven't got it to work tried amon ra 2.3 and cwm 3.0.0.5 and 2.5.0.7 is there something else? Oh yeah and i wiped cache and dal cache

I want to get the most out of my phone and I hear if you root that you will get better performance and possibilities to over clock them to run faster. I was just wondering what would be a good ROM to use for the metro network. It would be awesome if I can use everything, internet, picture message, gps, etc... Any one have any ideas? Is there an easy guide on how to do everything ? Please help, I want to try and do it my self but I dont know too much on how to do it. Im on a Mac or can I do everything from my phone via wifi? Thank you so much!

read the op. it has some great info that might help you out. not sure which gingerbread sense roms works well with metro. maybe mikekelso421 might fill in the blanks for those. but i do know that cm7 works well.

It seems that Metro-pcs is implementing 3g in some areas. No one is sure if it will last, if they remove the bandwidth caps, or if you can get it on the Evo yet because you need a Prl update to 3020. Jax FL seems uncapped 900kb/s down Though it is not always available depending on where in town you are.
Tampa, looks like no at this time. Update, close to the water, maybe just one tower has evdo.
Orlando Fl Had uncapped but possibly capped around 200kb/s - Edit 8/21 Cap confirmed at 200kbps.
Cocoa FL No evdo as of yet.
Kissimmee FL evdo, unknown if capped though.
Apopka, FL capped, but possibly part of the orlando network.
This seems to extend out to ormond beach
Lakeland Fl EVDO, Definitely Capped.
Surrounding areas of Lakeland, still to confirm, but capped.
Port St. Lucie and West Palm Beach, FL - No EVDO
South / Southwest FL - No EVDO yet. Officially Announced, no ETA.
SWFL Naples area no evdo as of yet.
Coral Springs, Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, North Miami Florida - NO EVDO yet


Atlanta GA No known evdo.
Dallas TX Most of the Area EVDO, seems capped at 200kbps, but faster than 1x.
Detroit Mi, Not looking like any change yet.

LA CA Possible evdo no speed results yet.
SF & Sacramento CONFIRMED EVDO at 1300~ kbps!
Stockton CA and Surrounding, Capped evdo

Riverside CA Sporatic evdo, possible rollout happening now

Now i have been running metrodroid v2.2 with everything working and waiting for 2.3 to be realesed..

Second do you run into problems if you go from a 2.2 rom to a 2.3.X rom? and how about if a rom is 2.3.3 and then you install another rom running 3.2.2 is that a problem? or can I just flash like crazy and forget all this non sense sorry im just new but not affraid to flash

Hey Mike I have a very simple question for you or anyone with a definitive answer. I have an EVO 4G flashed to Metro PCS because like you i am not paying more than $45.00 a month and I want to know if I root my phone will I lose my flash to Metro PCS? Thanks in advance.

Hi I have a HTC evo 4g phone metroflashed running cm7 txt, data,mms, and voice working. My question is what do I need to get 3g working? I have the 3023 prl is there any specific thing I need to change in the QPST settings to activate it? Or does the 3g just comes up when I'm in range of a cell tower with 3g?One more thing how does wimax work on metro?

I am running Metrodroid V2.2 w/PRI Version 1.90.003, recently updated the PRL to 03024 but still only getting 1X speed in Dallas not EVDO. Even tried to do it via the app "Advanced settings" changing it to EVDO but no dice. I do have everything working though I do get MMS, send and receive. I am able to get to the market via wi-fi or via the slow network. One thing I have a question about my wife has the same phone and flashed the same way she has PRL 03019 and up until a week ago she was able to get 4G in Dallas via Sprint some how. It stopped working and mine never worked even though the 4G antenna would come up and i was able to connect to it and it would even give me a Sprint IP. When i would go to a website or try to get to one it would give me this redirect page.

Has anyone been able to get 4G to work on their metro HTC EVO 4G at all?

He also said that if I changed from the stock rom I would have to re-flash to Metro which is $ 65.00. Ouch! I don't want to do that again. I do have to say that this is one kick-ass phone. did you read the op? i believe that you can flash a rom still and keep your data and sms. not sure on mms though.

So i finally got my Htc Evo flashed to metro but as many of the outdated forums say use a custom rom for MMS and data problems... NO PROBLEM, my only problem is which is the best for Hotspot to work, text and internet?

In case future problems i have yet to get the correct drivers for the windows 7 x64bit to read the phone connectivity!! WHERE are the PROS?

To help others that see my post I will say to you unless you are computer savvy dont try flashing your esn yourself to services METRO CHARGES 20$ its faster and safer to start from... I personally used CDMA WS was a headache but learning experience well accomplished!!

i would try mikg2.58 to start. it has a sense 2.1 and sense 3.0 built in. fast and stable as well.

not sure what drivers you are talking about. are you talking about the drivers for htc sync?
