Navigation - changes from robo voice to beeps to human voice... wtf?

So over the past couple of months i've been noticing that 20% of the time that i use googles Navigation... it decides to go ahead and change from the normal robo voice over to beeps... then over to a nice human voice.

It's pretty random, I restart the DX and it will continue doing this... i even clear out the cache in Maps and it still continues.

I do not have any text to speech programs or anything else downloaded that would screw with this so i have no idea what is going on.

Thoughts?

Try another nav app. Like e.g. free WAZE (in the Market).

It's a crowd-sourced (user generated) LIVE dynamic satnav/traffic information system (including blow-by-blow voice directions) that can provide you with early warning notifications of traffic jams, hazards, mobile speed traps, etc., ahead on your route. So you can decide, or not, to detour effectively.

See your own and other WAZEr's avatars live, dynamically, on screen. Ping another WAZEr on your route for detailed info if you need it.

In my (48 hours of) experience with WAZE it's proven to be much more informative and flexible than e.g. Google Nav or Tom-Tom.

WAZE is cross-platform. It works on Android, iOS, Symbian, Windows Mobile, etc.
Finally something where users of different mobile OSs can cooperate, for mutual benefit, instead of competing for the biggest dick...

If I were in a more populated area, Waze may work out... but there are only about 2 people in a 50 miles radius with it. lol

And the few others i've looked at dont seem to have nearly as much info as Google Maps does, which is why this aggravates so much.

That is the perfect situation to see how WAZE works: how you can build your own map from the ground up. Without even trying. At a higher resolution and plane of functionality than Google Maps/Nav or Tom-Tom.

And when you drive to the big city a whole 'nother world will open up for you using WAZE.

I haven't tried yet, but you can probably run both navigation systems side-by-side, simultaneously, and switch from one to the other with two presses.

Excellent, so keep using Google Maps if that works for you, but always run WAZE in the background while you're driving. It collects and collates your driving patterns and renders them into a continuously developing map. Eventually better than the standard ones. You should see the first patterns of your driving after a few days already.
And every other WAZEr passing through your area adds to the map too.

Has anyone ever figured out why Maps does this? I noticed it on my friends Droid as well... Robo voice to dings to a nice womens voice....
