Root Rooted thunderbolt messed up Sd card reading?

Hey guys i am new to the forums and i rooted my thunderbolt. It worked for about 3 days and its still working great, except for only half of my sd card is being read. It does not show my music, saying please insert and sd card. And will not save my pictures when i take a picture. Im running das bamf with sense version 1.0.5 and the mr2.5 radio. Its getting me mad and if i can fix this ill have the best phone in the world! haha HELP

If you go to settings > storage can you mount the SD card?

Are you getting any sort of error with the SD card popping up in your notification bar when you restart?

When i restart it does not say "preparing sd card" like it used to. If i put the card into my old droid 1, the card is read and all my music and stuff loads up. But not on my Thunderbolt. Could it be the rom? If i do a factory reset is my rom backed up? or do you think its my phone?

A factory reset would restore the rom to a fresh flash state so that is worth trying. It could be the SD reader on the phone but I doubt it. When you look in the storage settings is it showing the SD card as mounted?

Yeah it says its mounted. And tells me how much space i have on it... what should i do?

What's a file explorer? I can see everything on the card on the computer when I plug it in

No, if you use astro or root explorer from the market can they read the SD card? If they can download an app called sd rescan from the market and run it to see if that fixes the issue.

I just let it sit for 10 minutes total and it still said preparing... Let me know if this is normal

i have the issue too b4 and after root something with the sd card is messed up download a app called sdrescan its a good fix for it it will rescan your sd card and everything will show up

All it does is say preparing, it doesn't do any scanning or anything. HELP

What you are saying is happening doesn't make sense. If the phone reads the SD card when connected to the computer it should be able to read it as it uses the same hardware to do each. It doesn't appear to be an issue with the sd card since it works for other devices. Before I recommend formatting the SD card I would suggest booting into recovery and seeing if recovery can see the SD card. If it can and you can navigate in recovery and see files then flash a different rom or restore a backup to see if it work the a different rom.

I backed up my phone earlier and while it was backing up it read the ad card. Must be something with the rom I guess

I got the app sd manager and I can see all my stuff in that manager...

Yeah I think it may be the rom. I don't see why some apps can see your SD but the OS can't scan it.

I don't have link the link by synergy is a 3.0 rom and synergy users tend to get very attached to that rom.

Glad I can help, hope it is a rom issue. If you flash synergy and have the same issues please bump this thread and we can dig deeper.

I hope people are properly dismounting their phone and sd card from their cpu. I know once with my Incredible I forgot to dismount before unplugging from cpu. The card started acting up, would randomly dismount from phone and the phone couldn't read the card. I ended up having to reformat the card to fix the problem. So just one time can corrupt the card.

I think its a rom issue because it doesn't recognize my other sd card either

try a different usb cable. I was having the same issue. New cable fixed the problem.
