Hi There,

I am a heavy user and am finding the battery life on my HTC Desire HD very poor. Is there a RECOMMANDED extended life battery i can purchase or some sort of portable battery pack for emergencies.

I have already bought one which turned out to be worse than the origiunal battery.

thanks in advance

There is no recommended battery unfortunately, there are plenty of external batteries that do a pretty good job. How much are you willing to spend, I'll look some out for you.

On average, what sort of life are you getting? Have you done all the normal things, USB Debugging (only applicable to older software versions really), brightness down to about 45%, autosync off?

I use a Trent ultra pack and its very impressive and small enough to have in your pocket next to your phone charging. I had juice defender on and it was good but it started causing problems with my mobile internet connection so I took it off. I leave my phone on in my pocket at work and have been experimenting with what drains the battery. Bluetooth very little its the WiFi on that is the big drain. So WiFi on at home, off when I leave the house. When I am at work if I am in part of the building that as WiFi coverage and I need the internet I just switch it on. Most night when I go to bed at 2300 I still have about 40% left

Agreed, and it saves you nursing your baatteery on long trips. I have one that's similar to the NewTrent. Does a good job and charges my DHD from empty to full 3 times. However, I've sometimes wondered whether I could have made do with a smaller model, because I've never had to charge my DHD more than once while away from a power socket.

Got a link please? I just decided I'm def gonna get a charger of some sort, so would like to see decent alternatives.

For people who leave bluetooth or data or wifi on constantly. For the common android user it does nothing except waste more battery life than it saves.
this is what ive been finding. I leave 3g on all the time and the battery lasts longer than if i did the same with juice defender installed.

What uses the battery power, i think, is turning it on and off constantly. Juice defender does that every time you turn your screen on. Consider that.

3g being on all the time wont drain your battery. Your screen uses the most battery. Expect 2-4 hours or less and one day of use. Regardless of most other things going on with the phone, this is normal.

Have you considered running a custom rom?

Many custom roms have dramatically improved battery life, and you can keep the niceties of sense with roms such as leedroid and revolution hd.

Im with you on this one! I installed leedroid about a week ago now and after calibrating my battery the improvement seems to be huge. Best thing i ever did if im honest :)
