I am at uni and there is no wifi in my room, just ethernet connection which is perfect for my laptop but i use my phone alot (for chatting to a friend) and a hell of a lot of other things, i have no contract so no 3g so i kind of NEED wifi.
I downloaded connectify and got excited untill the point i cannot connect to market and most other apps that use internet including browser.
I would be in your debt if someone could help me get around this, i tried Ad-hoc but the phone doesn't detect it.

EDIT: I am on android 2.2 - Swedish Spring RLS5, phone rooted

Hi, you got Windows7 lappy?

AFAIK, you need this for WiFi hotspot, not ad-hoc, as not supported on Blade!!!

You could try this: Virtual Router - Wifi Hot Spot for Windows 7 / 2008 R2

Has wpa2 as default security, can't be turned off.....

And this: Bzeek | Empowering people to connect

Transform your Windows computer into a wifi hotspot with Bzeek | The Windows Club

Claims to work with Xp and Vista as well as 7.......not sure, as have not used.

hope this helps, Danny

Sorry, knew there was something important i left out, yes i have windows 7. Thanks for the help i will try the programs later.

i tried virtual router and it seems to not work very well and when it did same problem.
Bzeek wouldnt letme have wifi access (i registered and everything).
I was researching and i think ppl with the phone also have the problem so i don't know exactly whats the problem.

OK... so I don't know..... sorry :-(

Can any other device(s) connect via your Laptop Hotspot?

like a friends IPhone/Android/Laptop? Just to rule out the Hotspot.....?

Is there firewall blocking on your BB Ethernet connection?

So, just to be clear, no connection via Connectify, or similar, hotspot on your W7 Laptop for your device, or your friends device?

Seems, to me, that there may be a problem with your Connectify or other Hotspot settings on the Laptop, or perhaps you are being blocked by Firewall.

For instance, can you use your Connectify, or other hotspot, at home for instance, on your home BB connection?

I would check here for Connectify FW and AV issues.....

note, you may not, and probably will not have access to your College Firewall settings
