Screen protectors & touch sensitivity

I've had my hero for about 10 days now. So far I am loving it waaaaaay more than my old winmo phone. That said, I find that the screen is just not nearly as touch sensitive as my ipod touch and im kind of disappointed. I have to press things sometimes 2 or 3 times to get it go. Especially in the corners :(

1. I did do the text alignment dealy
2. I have a screen protector. Its a $20 Invisible Shield by ZAGG that is off the shelf. Could that be causing the slow and unresponsive screen? What do you guys use?
3. Does the hero really NEED a screen protector? I previously had an HTC touch DIAMOND and i didn't use a screen protector evre and it got scratched up to HELL. Just for reference, I used my ipod almost in the same way (in and out of jeans pocket, not with keys, etc) and it didn't scratch AT ALL.

Any way to improve this would make me way less disappointed here.

When I got my phone the guy at BB installed a ZAGG for free... after two weeks I pulled it off and the phone got a lot better. Plus the screen actually looks better

how tough do you think the screen is? If anyone wants to comment on the screen TOUGHNESS vs. Ipod touch (2nd gen) or versus the htc touch diamond I'd be verycurious. I dont throw this thing in rocks but my diamond def got scratched up!

I had massive issues with my Zagg shield, especially around the edges of the phone. I found a dead pixel on my screen and swapped my phone out for a new one, but had to remove the screen protector and it made soooo much difference. The second time around I went with a Seidio ultimate screen guard, and it feels ALMOST the same as the original screen. I'm extremely happy with it, and they're really cheap compared to Zagg. Just be careful when you install it

If you got it online, any chance you could link me to where you got it? And yes, I am having real issues with screen sensitivity in the corners (like when you press to lower keyboard when you're done writing a text. I have to punch it like 3x before it responds). I wanna just take off the shield to test but it'll be a bitch putting it back on!

You really can't put them back on, and if you do it looks awful. I have more experience with this than I would care to think about -.-

Anyway, here's the link. Coupon code LOVE2010 will get you 10% off and free shipping until 2/14 o_O
seidioonline.com

There's a single and double pack, I highly recommend you get the double for the extra 5 bucks

checkout the video in this thread:
http://androidforums.com/sprint-htc-hero/42972-naked-hero.html

the Hero has a glass screen same as the Iphone / touch...
which is less likely to scratch.. but can break!!!

the touch diamond (I also had) is not glass and will scatch very easily.

I have a screen protector and think it is responsive.. but my guess is that it is 5-10% less..

i use a case.. and thinking about .. not using the screen protector

Yep. I'll try to LEARN TO READ before I get your hopes up next time...
Sorry, it says $50 min on the email, I just forgot or didn't read it u.u

LOL< its all good man. $12 turns into $19 with shipping :( Boo.

I did take off the screen protector though guys and its WAY more responsive. GUess invisishield is going back.

In the interrum I put on a $2 screen that came with the car mount kit I got on ebay. It has air bubbles but it doesn't seem to diminish the sensitivity like the ZAGG did.

Any other recs from people?

I don't wanna sound like the "Mr. Cheapo", but I did some reaserch before
I purchased a screen protector and this is what I found out: First the zagg sounded like a wonderful invention, but I saw an employee at Best
Buy with it installed on his phone, and realized it makes the screen looked
less sharp. He went on to tell me it took some sensitivity from the screen,
so I decided not to go with zagg. All others that I've read about in other
forums and blolgs, seem to take away from what to me, is most important
responsiveness. So i went with what, to me was the best choice Protecting my screen at a fairly cheap price. Went to wallmart, bought
a pack of 5 universal size screen protectors you have to trim them yourself, (this is not an option if you feel you dont have a steady)
They do come with a numbered grid on the side and on the top, so that you can get it to near perfection.

Looks neat, protects the screen and most importantly NO LAG
