Nexus One Camera vs. HTC Hero?

Has anyone here come from a HTC Hero to the Nexus One? If so what is the camera of the Nexus One like in comparison to the Hero?

I've seen some shots between the iPhone and Nexus One but tbh the iPhones' camera was never that good to begin with. I'm seriously thinking of making the jump soon but this is one of the only things I'm not sure about.

If anyone has both phones could you post a few comparison pics for me?

afonja - wow.

looking at the zoomed images it's painfully obvious the Hero's camera bites. the outside shot is washed out, hued blueish, etc. I can guess a bit is just the difference in MP, but shot quality indoor (flash used?), for the flowers is a huge difference as well. Partly due to maybe bad movement during the pic on the Hero? (very blurred) A flash should be able to help freeze the shot better.

OK - edit - see both are 5mp. Weird. The flash (or lack on Hero) would make a difference indoors, but the outdoor building shot shouldn't be that bad!

Hmm... glad i got the N1.

Also, looked at pic properties/details. N1 geo tags GPS location in metadata. Don't see that in Hero. Pretty neat feature IMO.

hth!

also - I have to say the shot to shot speed on the N1 is fantastic! How about the Hero?

It's not my D300, but also doesn't weigh several pounds... ;) I've found myself using the camera on my phone more and more, even though i carry my nice DSLR almost daily. It's just so handy for everything (taking pics of people for profiles, facebook updates, and products i want to price check or look at further).

Now mix in the quality of the pics... may leave the Nikon at home even more. I put over 10k shots on my DSLR in under a year - it will still get use, but for the daily shot the N1 is pretty damn respectable. Low light, or zoom obviously won't work...

Ok i'll quit the rant now. Not sure if it's any help anyway. Don't get me talking photog. :)

ImageShack -

Take a look here.

First 2 is Nexus and second 2 is HTC

Updated SORRY

Wow thanks for taking the time to take the pics! Yes I know the Hero's camera isn't brilliant (I own one) so I needed to see how much better the Nexus One's camera is compared to the Hero.

Are you happy you made the jump from the Hero to the Nexus One?

You could either wait for the Bravo or get an N1 now for yourself, then flash a Bravo ROM on it come March/April.

I've tried out Sense UI and I agree with the consensus that it's really very good--but stock Android 2.1 plus home replacement that supports live wallpapers is more than enough to compete with Sense. More, even.

Actually I didn't made that jump as I bought N1 for my girlfriend :)

But to be honest - N1 is much better, the only thing I miss is Sense UI(all nice widgets from HTC)

Well thanks for your input. I've now made the jump myself and have just ordered my Nexus One. Now to explain this to the misses when she sees it lol!

"Ummm, it fell from the back of a lorry?"
