Brand New Droid User Here!

For years I have been an iPhone user and often have thought about adding a second phone so I can check out the Droid. I was unhappy with my MiFi from Verizon so they made me an offer and I made the plunge and took Verizon up on their offer and added the Rezound to my collection. I now have two phones, an iPhone 4S and the Rezound. I'm so excited about this!

Since I know little about droids and was fooling around with it tonight, I have a few questions.

1) Is there a page to see all your apps that have updates?
2) Is there a way to check what version of the Google Navigation is installed?
3) Can you suggest some apps, maybe something not on iPhone, that I should check out ASAP?

Thanks so much and looking forward to being part of the community.

Welcome to Android :D!

1. The market will display all the apps you have other than some of the stock apps or apps you download from other sources (Amazon Appstore). You would press menu then my apps and if any are available for updates it will show them at the top.

2. From your home screen press menu, settings, manage applications and click on google Navigation under the all apps tab then under the name the version # should be displayed.

3. What are you looking to do with the phone (I've never really used an iPhone so I don't know what is all there) you can install adobe flash and kongregrate arcade I am pretty sure those aren't available on iOS but I could be wrong.

I hope you enjoy your Android experience

1.) On the market on your phone, press the capacitive menu button, then select "My Apps"
2.) Apps will be listed as those with updates on top, followed by alphabetical list of all your apps. You can search for Google Nav there, basically, you can tell the version you have install from there or in the Google Nav app itself.

Interesting.. Tried that and I have two sections. Installed and not Installed.

I don't know what I am looking to do, lol. I actually already installed Flash which I think is cool. Gonna go look for Kongregate now!

Thanks so much and looking forward to more feedback :)

If you have previous apps purchased with your gmail account but haven't installed them on your phone, say you purchased an app and didn't like it so you uninstalled it, then it will show up under your "not installed" if you don't have any above the installed apps then all your apps are up to date.

Yeah sorry I can't really help out much in what isn't on iOS, be sure to check out the android games and android applications areas of AF and you will see more apps others are using you may want to try out

Google Voice. I'm assuming your Android phone is a new number that you haven't really handed out, yet? Google Voice will give you a new number to use, but Google Voice gives free texting and visual voicemail (features that Verizon charges for, but the VVM is kinda crap with Google Voice). Another great thing about GV is that you can log into your Google account at voice.google.com. From there, you can check voicemail and SMS, plus you can SEND messages from the web browser. Your phone could be turned off, under the bed, with it's battery pulled out, and you could still receive and send text messages from any internet browser.

While not exclusive to Android, I would also recommend you get Google Authenticator. Using 2-step authorization on your Google account, you can make it so your phone will generate a 6 digit code that you enter when you access your Google account. So if anyone tries to hack into your email, they will need your password and this code that refreshes every 30 seconds. A nice bit of security.
