ok I'm getting a little excited about my Mom's new Rezound -- I hope she likes it!... think she'd notice if I stole the headphones?!

I would in a heartbeat... My mom got a DX2 and my dad had a DX and I swapped the backs and put her home screen on my Dads DX and she didnt realize it for a long time lol...

the benefit of pre order is being guaranteed a launch day device and not having to have a sales rep try to sell you extra accessories or try to set it up for you. and with the demand this phone seems to have, not having to be in line and being guaranteed a device seems the two biggest pluses

+1 - exactly what I was going to say. :)

I wouldn't. Some reports show the Beats EQ responds differently to their own headphones vs. others. Take that with the typical grains of salt, honestly. I think you'll find a lot of advice hereabouts on some headphones that seem to represent a better retail value, and maybe you're better putting those on your list to your Santa. ;) Just an offhand opinion, your mileagemom may vary. :)

That's hilarious and devious. I'm not sure if I should scold you or commend you. If I was 16, I would do it... but a decade of actually coming to like my parents makes me second guess the idea. But then again, she'd probably just loose them... I guess it will depend on how much I like them while I set up her phone! Ha. :p

Longtime lurker here...all the way back to the crazy Incredible days. I'm hanging with my DX waiting for the GN:D.
I was in a corporate store today just to take a look at the Rezound...they did not have it there and insisted on the Razr saying that it was "the best". When I said...I think not, I am waiting for the Galaxy Nexus, all 3 of them had no idea what I was talking about. So typical...and sad. I actually could tell them more about the Razr then they knew about it. It's amazing people even go into these stores:rolleyes:

But if you think about it, there's no reason they couldn't, considering the fact that Samsung manufactures its own flash storage instead of relying on a 3rd party manufacturer. Plus, +16GB for -$100 would be a really competitive price, and flash storage costs decrease with time anyways.

Steven's right for retail prices, I think - to a casual observer, this is a $300 phone given the others are.

Verizon phones seem to always carry more memory and then cost a little more than the other carriers' similar phones. Convenience counts.

In terms of preorder vs no preorder, as soon as the Nexus is up for sale, I'm ordering it, along with some accessories, and choosing the fastest possible shipping. And if it is between 16 or 32 GB, I'll do the 32. I've had the money saved since the Nexus/ICS HK event, and about half an hour into the event I fell in love with it. I'm all in on this one, cause that's how I roll. :D

I think the price that is set on the phone really depends on what Google is really trying to accomplish with this phone. You really want to make it an iPhone 'killer'? Can be argued a better screen, for sure a faster and 4g to boot but those facts only will turn some peoples' heads....but 32gb's and all that for $199...you can feel the breeze created from all the heads turning.

I will not be preordering in this case -- but I would want to if I was paying out of pocket for the phone for several reason 1) possibility of getting it sooner via some sort of shipping speedy awesomeness, a'la Dinc b)satisfaction of knowing i ordered it at the first possible minute and knowing it will be in the mail and not having to worry about going to the store the day it launches.

Does she read the box contents? Lol.

The most recent trend has pre-orders arriving about 2 days before the store release. I know some people got the Razr on wednesday when it was released on friday... So maybe we could get it sometime on 10/6 or 10/5 :)

WTF That damn target lady is STILL on commercials and its after black friday.......

I hope there's no having to decide. I want to walk in the store, put my money on the counter, have my phone retrieved from the back AND, most importantly, be able to plant a big wet sloppy kiss on my new baby.
alright, maybe not a kiss but I do want to hold it in my hot little hands

I HATE THE TARGET LADY!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a pair of Beats Lady Gaga ear buds already -- Best Buy discount made them worth trying out. I like the sound well enough because I listen to a lot of hip-hop and rap on Pandora so it works well for that. I'm just curious if they're any better/more compatible than the Apple ones I have (not the ones that come with the iPhone, the upgraded ones that are an add-on -- again, got them cheap on ebay). The mic doesnt work with my DCharge, so they're just collecting lint right now, but if I got another set for free, I'd just sell them or give them to my fruit loving boyfriend.

Is it December yet? Seriously? I waste so much time on here -- between the forum, work, moving, renovating, and puppies, my gpa has taken a hit! Good thing I'm not planning on grad school! Taken me long enough to graduate (I'll be almost 26 when I finish my undergrad in the spring), I can't fail now guys!

I'm surprised I rarely hear any talk of best buy in here. In the past, they have always had phones on launch day, and plenty of them. Also, in the case of "renting" a phone, I don't understand why people keep going to verizon, as verizon has a $35 restocking fee and best buy has a $0 restocking fee. Plus, you get 30 days to exchange the phone for a different one (obviously only 14 days if you want to cancel service though).

That's about when I knew I was in love with a phone too.

I'm actually going to end up pre-ordering online, because:
1. Satisfaction of ordering online ;)
2. Possibility of early shipment
3. Stupid rep doesn't have to "set up" my phone, thus I get a literally untouched device!

You make a good point about getting an untouched phone. Hmmmm.

not sure if I'm even going to give it to her in the box! I might do one of the silly, 'Oh who's phone is ringing?' things and have it sitting out in the open where she doesn't notice. She'd do something like that to other people but find it annoying if done to her, so I think it could be hilarious. Or I might make it ring in a box. Something lame like that -- so no she probably won't know about the box contents! :p

It's ok BB, I'm going to kiss my Gnex too! I get way too excited about new things. I slept in my first pair of rollerblades when I was 8 the day I got them...

I have seen it cheaper on line than at the store in the past, 2 years ago that is.

Call me paranoid but.......

I went with a friend to purchase his OG Droid at a corp store in Feb of 2010 and was a bit taken back in how long it took the guy to reappear at the desk with the box all opened up and papers all hanging out and such.
It took forever for him to hand it over. He was going through the phone for several minutes and looking at the computer. Heck, I dunno?

When we were at the bar later we took a look at the 16GB card and it was a no-name unit that was only labeled 16GB and a name I never heard of or can remember. Mine shipped with a Sandisk. His battery was fully charged. I expressed my observations but he couldn't care less, bought me a beer and still has the phone to this day.

In contrast, with my online purchase, I took it out of the box and the battery was around 25%, and it was activated in minutes, and had a Sandisk card. I can also remember a price break when ordered online, or perhaps the store ignored the loyalty discount.

I am going to have a look at Costco if I don't have to wait too long. There is no back room for them to go into and I'll tell him to just hand me the box and take my money.

But if the price is a wash I'll just order online. I am positive I will not buy at a Verizon Corp Store. Something spooks me about them.

My friend got his Gnex from Handtec a couple days ago. He loves it, and I want to strangle him :)

I've decided to preorder the Transformer Prime sometime in the next week or so. I just want a solid release date for that device as well before I commit to buying it. Looks like December 8 and 9 is gonna be like an early Christmas for me :D

Are most going to pre-order or go to the store? For those who respond what are the benefits of pre-order vs. store purchase?

Pre-order because I probably couldn't get to the store until late in the day and all you guys would have bought them all up by then. Plus with the pre-order there's the hope that they ship early like the DInc and I get it early. It was fun walking into the Verizon store looking for a case and blowing their minds when I whipped out the DInc 3 days early. :D

Which reminds me... whatever happened to that BB employee who told us of the "do not open before 11/21" box? :p

I talk about it all the time! You've just been missing it I guess ;) Reason I'm not paying a dime for my Gnex is I got my DCharge with the Buy Back program, so through December I'll get half of THEIR retail (which will be $350) in selling it back, and I'm using an upgrade from a different line on my account (which Best Buy but not all third party retailers can do) so it's freeee! I went with Best Buy because of the 30 day policy and got the Buy Back as extra insurance in case the Bionic didn't come out within 30 days (which it didn't) and if I heard something better was on the horizon (which clearly it was!) Obviously i WIN.

i commonly suggest best buy. i had a great experience with getting my dinc there.... when everyone was waiting weeks to get one(including my wife), i walked into best buy and someone who was on a waiting list had failed to come by and pick it up so they sold it to me. the 30 day exchange is awesome, and usually they are a little cheaper than the czw corporate store

ps... also, if you are someone who likes to have insurance on your device, best buy offers a unique type of insurance. if you have more than one of the same phone on your plan(like for example my wife and i both got dinc's), you can take out their insurance and essentially cover both phones with one plan because they dont take down the serial number until after the first claim.

pss... the above suggestion was given to me by the mobile manager at best buy when we got our phones, not something i figured out how to con them with on my own haha
