Root Alas i am a super noob.. bricked phone

Heres the situation. I have an optimus v on virgin mobile running android 2.2.2. I rooted it using gingerbreak and tried using rom manager to install different roms. After installing one of the roms my phone went into a boot mode and everything was behaving normally except for the fact that the flashing android text was taking longer to pass than normal. After about two minutes of the flashing android screen my phone boots to my lock screen. I can plug my phone into the computer and the usb notification will pop up but my screen will not respond to my touch so it will not unlock. I tried to boot into recovery mode but it only shows the lg logo and then goes to a black screen. I am able to get the phone into emergency mode but as the title of this thread accurately states, i am a noob. How do i fix this? i have googled and went over a ton of forums to no avail.

after some more research i think i may have found a way. Does anyone know how to get the .kdz firmware for this phone? i may be able to do a software update.... UGH(fml)

thank you for responding. I have seen that post many times, however i dont think vm will be willing to help me out here. I mean my phone came with 2.2.2 so i can't just say i was upgrading my software.. I am just really at a loss right now.

Okay so ive taken a good hard look at all the info provided by AndyOpie150 ( thank you so much for the help) and ive downloaded the pica07remix zip. One thing i am confused on is how do i put this on my phone?

SO this is interesting... i placed a call to my OV from another phone. it allowed me to answer the phone and it allowed me to unlock the phone after. the funny thing is that it will not go to my home screen.. idk if its possible but is there a way that i can use this to install working rom?

Ok. First ROM Manager only flashes it's recovery, it does not install the proper flash image. This is something you will have to do. Second you will have to install the proper recovery for the Hitachi screen drivers. flash_image can be found here http://www.mediafire.com/?bx14hzq5i2pq3ps unzip it and the recovery(one of those specific for your screen driver), and put them along with the zipped kernel you chose onto the root of the sd card(this means to put it near the bottom of the list of folders, not in any folder)Then rename the recovery.img to just that! recovery.img
Then reinstall the sd card. Do you have a PC?

Yes im using a windows xp. Do i need to install that android sdk? or can i just pull my sd card out and throw the file on that? In other words does my phone have to be connected?

It doesn't matter HOW the file gets on the card, so long as it's there. You'll need to be connected to the PC, however, to actually FLASH said file.

I can't tell, is the pica07remix zipped or unzipped?
If you don't have the LG drivers installed go here http://androidforums.com/lg-optimus-v/268044-official-full-optimus-v-driver-download-lg.html
Edit: ok I see that it's zipped
put sd card back into phone.
Once you have ADB established and the drivers installed, plug phone into pc.
Wait for drivers to complete install.
Open up a command prompt.

Type in this: cd C:\SDK/platform-tools(hit enter key) or(cd.. then cd.. then cd SDK/platform-tools(hit enter key)
adb shell(hit enterkey)if you get a # your good. Continue with the next code. If you get $ your not properly rooted.

If your good then continue by typing in this:
mount(sp)-o(sp)remount,rw(sp)-t(sp)yaffs2(sp)/system(sp)/system(return)cat(sp)/sdcard/flash_image(sp)>(sp)/system/bin/flash_image(return) chmod(sp)755(sp)/system/bin/flash_image(return) flash_image(sp)recovery(sp)/sdcard/vrecovery.img(return) reboot(sp)recovery(return)

(sp)=space, this is were the spaces are don't type this in.
(enter)=hit enter key, don't type this in.

You should now be in your recovery. To scroll up/down use the volume keys.
Depending on the recovery the selection key could be the home key, menu key, or the camera key. If you try to use one and your screen goes black, hit it again and choose another until you find the one that works.

okay so i did all that and got a $ sign
what now?
if you got $ then your not rooted. Run the Gingerbreak.API and root the phone. I'll finish out the rest of the instructions while you root phone.Edit: you got major problem. No backup, no root and a messed up phone. This is going to take me some time to see if I can figure out how to fix it

Well i was able to get the market up on my phone and im trying to find gingerbreak. Its weird because my home screen will not work but i was able to bypass the lock screen by sending a call to my phone from another phone, which for some reasons enables the touch ability again. also i can use voice control to access settings n such. Idk if this helps.. but i hope so

Ok there is some hope. Go into settings applications / development. Make sure USB debugging is checked. And yes. use the flash_image GUI. After you run the Gingerbreak.apk
