***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

And this wasn't a factor in the release of the Bionic, Rezound, Charge, Razr, LG...why? I don't buy this 'LTE expansion' one single bit. The network was expanding with these other phones and there were no delays. Nope, I believe this is a phone issue.

FWIW, the Bionic was delayed over 8mos. When the Bionic was finally launched, it was announced the night before it went on sale in stores, with no pre-order.

The GNex launch is shaping up to be similar (except for the 8mos delay, I hope).

I just got back from a new VZW non-Corporate store very close to me. Very nice layout, beautiful store.

The sales guy was very nice when I asked him about the Nexus. His response was "The bad news is I spoke with a friend who works for Google last night and he told me the VZW launch has been delayed until January".

He admitted he couldn't be 100% sure, but he said "I'm just telling you what he told me".

You know what? I wouldn't be surprised. In the NY area we're still waiting for the 'New FIOS TV' updates for ONE YEAR, so what's another month for a phone.

wow that can potentially be bad news. a bug with the update could mean another 2 weeks of waiting with testing and reporting back etc.

two weeks?

I don't think Verizon has ever released a completely bug free Android device...plus the have had plenty of time to test!

They haven't, that's for sure. What I'm saying is, if they're holding it up, it's something pretty serious.

When the Dinc was released the phone was plagued with random reboots that were apparently completely missed during the test phase (and yes, the peasants were storming the castle, LOL). If they're holding it up due to some issue, it could mean any number of things, but I'd bet its network related, not user experience related. I know of NO smartphone of ANY kind, Android, iPhone, Blackberry that is without user-experience bugs. (e.g., iPhone's browser has been known to silently crash...just disappears without any dialog or "Force close". No popup apparently keeps the sheep from complaining.)

Verizon doesn't usually sign off on OTA updates, even bug-fixers, all that quickly.

If it is a new issue, yes we are in for a wait, as the fix needs to be found, as well as approved. If it is an existing issue that missed its deadline, it might not take long.

I work in the aerospace industry. Getting a change approved on average takes 2-3 weeks. But that is the usual pace. I have in the past gotten approval in 2-3 hours, when the pressure is on, and it has the right people putting pressure on it. I think the Nexus is one of these high visibility things. The pressure on the testers and engineers for this issue HAS to be enormous right now.

Right.

Apple says when it is being released, than releases it. Verizon hasn't said a thing. We keep saying when it will be released. There's a big difference.

I'm making the point that Verizon doesn't screw around when it comes to Apple (they don't have the guts) but the dump all over Android and Google (I think I recall Google saying it would be out by the end of November).

I'm sticking with my "after xmas" prediction. I still say there is no way Verizon releases this thing before allowing the RAZR to sell as much as possible to holiday shoppers.

im beginning to think this isn't about the Razr ANYMORE..maybe previously. they must be ready to release this thing,...but for the love of..........

Given that LTE had major issues from Verizon within the last 36 hours and already the individual phones are being blamed, despite Verizon statements to the contrary - I'd say you're wrong and you can relax.

I predict that the stories of LTE radio and bad update, while false, will persist for some time.

From your mouth to God's ears. :)

You know when I come to think of it, I have been having 4G issues on my Bionic over the last 2 days.

Here's what worries me most about Verizon delaying the release for fixing bugs. Are we for sure going to get updates straight from Google once this phone is live? All this stuff with Verizon delaying things just makes me think Google isn't going to have much to do with updating it in the future.

Yeah, every push of the release date makes me more worried that verizon makes too many decisions about even a nexus phone.

I just spoke to another rep and a supervisor and it is 14 days from the date of activation. He said the extended policy is done like that in case you are giving the phone as a gift and they won't activate it until Christmas day or something like that. Once it is activated you have 14 days from that date to activate the phone. That is now 4 people that have informed me of that 2 csr's, one supervisor and a in store employee.

What does your reciept say? IIRC it says something to the effect of: "any phone purchased after november 15th can be returned through January 15th" Nothing about activation. I had to deal with this for a few days before I got a Razr, the stores had no idea what i was talking about so i had to call vzw and have a rep put a note of my account so they would see it. I returned ym Razr already, so I cant look at my reciept, but you should be good. Might have to resort to going to another store or telling them to look it up in the computer....

Man, I've never felt so hopeless about something like this. There is nothing we can do but wait. The roller coaster needs to stop. I'm not angry but I just can't do anything lol.

And was a huge bust... The phone never lived up to the hype of ces. It was a huuuuuuuge bust.

Looks like I'm out of getting the GN then. Just spoke to Verizon and in order to get the Holiday return policy it has to be a non activated phone. My OG died so I have no back up to return to. I'm stuck with the Bionic unless I can find a old phone to use and return this one.

That sucks!!

I was under the impression that you could return an activated phone up until January 15th. Can someone let me know because today would be 14 days with my RAZR and I'll bring it back if that's the case.

I could actually see them delaying the GN launch BECAUSE of LTE issues that have nothing to do with the phone...

Last thing they want is people bringing home there brand new phones and thinking something is wrong with them when its not :(
