not to add fuel to the fire here but honestly if i was VZW i'd say ok screw it lets just wait and Launch it on 1/1/2012. 2012 is suppose to be a big year for Google and what better way to kick it off than to launch their new mobile OS on day 1.

something to think about so you don't possibly go crazy every 3 days when its not launching.

The world/Google does not revolve around America. What would be the point of this if you can get the phone in other parts?

Edit: Ninja'fied!

I've been through launches before.

Here is what I Skyped to Steven exactly 25 hours and 25 minutes ago -

That was total seat of the pants, just going by launches I've seen.

Here's my next prediction - Verizon customers will have phones in hand by Monday.

If Friday doesn't release, there will be an outcry from retailers forcing Saturday sales - no one wants to sit on inventory over a shopping weekend during December.

No insider info - just me having watched releases and having seen patterns.

The salt is over by the stove. ;) :)

After this phone release, I swear that my doctor is going to be shocked at my sodium levels since the last time I saw him.

I don't understand why people are willing to switch to AT&T, when they have an unreliable service, because they haven't gotten this phone yet. Downgrading your service to show Verizon how upset you are over "delayed" release, that they haven't officially announced, is just foolish to me.

Maybe in their area at&t has better coverage? Not everyone is you and is stuck where you are at.

I wouldn't believe that at all - Friday isn't the 12th. Do the mean Friday the 9th or Monday the 12th? They got mixed messages, and don't know what they're talking about.
Yeah, lots of comments on the story ripping the writer and calling it fake.

oh really is friday the 9th not the 12th? thank you 13 people telling me this!
Bahaha. Yeah, my bad, should have looked more closely before bothering to post it here.

Verizon's Samsung Galaxy Nexus may be delayed | BGR
Looks like it won't be the 12th either...

I'm still hopeful for a launch by Monday. We've got 2 plausible theories that would have a positive spin.

First, Verizon changes the info to "coming soon" just to squash rumors - Entirely possible. If you've gotten to the point where you can see that your gag order has done nothing to plug leaks, with the information even hitting local news in some areas, your best bet to put an end to it is some misdirection. With Han's sister confirming the stock being out there, it

There are 5 verizon stores within 10 or so miles of me. I just called all of them just to ask if they had a demo unit I could look at. Three didn't know anything. The other two said they were going to put out a demo on Friday but it's been delayed and they won't be putting the demos out after all. One of those two did take my info though and said they would call me when they had a demo out and hold one for me when they finally released
UGH!!

Here is what's going on at Verizon, yesterday they sent out updated Equipment guide with a date and a price for the Nexus, I was informed from my son who works tech support that employees are not supposed to give any details or even talk about a device unless it shows in the equipment guide with both a release date and price...the two things included in yesterdays release. That brought on an onslaught of Verizon Retail employees calling potential customers making appointments, the press is talking this release date of Dec. 9th up and you can feel the excitement in the air.

Last night Verizon executives get wind of what was happening with their Retail employees and how the media had gotten wind of the Dec. 9th launch date and was basically calling it official....remember Verizon wants this to go as a soft launch and this thing blew up in their face, so how do you stop the media...their employees and how do they make more friends? They change the equipment guide and remove the release date thus closing the door on the employees being able to talk about the device...it puts out the "Coming soon" and the media jumps on that killing two birds with one stone!

As my son said, Verizon jumped the gun and included to much information on the original equipment guide and once they realized the employees were allowed to act and talk as they did because of the information provided by there own executives they had no choice but remove the release date.

My son did see the new equipment guide today and it does say "Coming Soon" but he believes that it will still be released on Friday Dec. 9th...remember Verizon has already shipped the product to retail stores and reseller stores so it is happening and soon so everyone just chill!
Thanks! You almost talked me off the ledge....almost....man, the people look real small from way up here on the nexus release ledge....

Couldn't agree more.

Everyone is of course free to do what they think is better for them, but yeah, this seems to me like cutting off your nose to spite your face.
