Notification ringtone problem!

Hello all,
i'm trying to change my notification ringtone, (sounds simple) but somehow when i go into the settings and change to a new one, the same old ringtone keeps ringing. Note that the old ringtone is a thrid party ringtone. I can't seem to change it. Can someone help me with this?

I'm having the same problem with my phone (HTC Droid Eris). I can't get my notification sound to change either.
