This may or may not be useful to anyone, but I heard back earlier today about my inquiry to the $100 promotional credit. Below is a portion of the email they sent me:

"Thank you for contacting Verizon Wireless via our Website, my name is Keith. I will be happy to assist you with your question regarding a Promotional offer that you located for 4G phones. I look forward to addressing your concerns. .

I contacted department that is offering the discounted price for the 4G phones. This offer is only for selected areas and is not currently being offered in the your home area."

So there ya go, regional promo only.

I got denied via email for the $100 off. She said it was for Chicago only. That's strange considering I'm seeing people outside of Chicago getting it. i don't know if I should try again or not. Anyone in NC have any luck with this?
From reading all the "success stories" in this thread, it sounds as though regardless of region, this deal applies specifically to an existing line with a 3G device eligible for an upgrade.

Since that scenario does match with what I plan to do (add a line and swap phones), I have not bothered talking with a VZW rep. On the other had, if I learn of anyone from NC who is adding a new line and still qualifies for this deal, I'll be on the phone in a heartbeat!

So guys and gals, will Costco have the Nexus on Thursday (assuming that date holds)? I would love to get it for $289 with the bundle, but I need to know:

a. will they have it Thursday or would I have to wait?
b. will they honor both my NE2 promo price ($299 at the store or whatever) AND my $50 discount (e.g. Razr/Rezound show as $249 on vzw.com)?

Is that additional $50 discount ONLY for online? Or would I get it in the VZW corporate store if I wind up going to the VZW store and not Costco. Thanks in advance!

I just home from Costco.

No news on the GN. they don't even have a real REZ, they do have the Razr in stock. The Rezound is available for next day delivery.

They told no on the NE2 discount, they don't honor it because they said on line only.

The Razr and Rezound are $199 for new customers, $199 for VZ customers that don't have a data plan now. $289 for the rest of us. It does come with ~ $170 of accessories.

They think the GN will be the same as the REZ ( next day delivery ) because it's not a Moto phone.

Our Costco is not a big Costco.

I heard yesterday that TN and NC (I think...maybe it was VA??) were eligible for $150 off

Can anyone else verify that?

I just got off the phone 10 minutes ago with VZW and was able to get the $100 discount noted on my account and I live in NY state. You just need to be nice and smooooth on the phone with them.

I had no luck. Verizon CSR just called me about the $100 promo. She asked how I found out about it. I told her it was sent to me. She actually started laughing and said "yeah - we see that people are emailing it and talking to one another about it, and we are getting a lot of calls". Then she said "that is not a Verizon promotion" even after I gave her the code. I said "it says Verizon" and she said "No, it is not from Verizon" while giggling the whole time. If the whole experience wasn't so comical, I would probably be pissed off right now.

Alright everyone I got the 100$ off after talking to a 611 rep. He was probably the most helpful rep i have ever talked to actually. Anyways...

THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO TELL THE CSR

search "3g to 4g smartphone promo" in the "doorways" system.
This is how the rep said he found it. I talked to 2 other CSRs in the past who had no idea what I was talking about. Below is a screenshot of the text the rep sent to me. From what he told me, this seems to be something they are running for most everyone. Also I was told that it expires on the 31st, not the 25th

Wow...just wow. After trying several different CSR's with no luck, I tried your method and within like 2 minutes I had the $100 noted on my account and they will waive the $20 upgrade fee also with this promo. I live in Mississippi so this has to be for the entire country. Come on Thursday and chandl90 you rawk!!!!! Many thanks....

Man, this sucks.

Otterbox Lovers, Here is Your Galaxy Nexus Defender Series Case – Droid Life

I would love to be able to use the Defender on my SGN, but with how hard it is to take off and put on, pretty much screws up utilizing all the docks designed for the naked phone. Anybody heard rumblings of a company that will come out with an integrated car dock/ phone case combo? The Seidio setup for the OG comes to mind.

Not exactly. Whichever line's upgrade is used for the contract price is renewed for 2 years. The contract goes with the line; not the hardware.

Right, so if I use his upgrade, it extends his contract. I can then get a new line with no contract (theoretically I mean - FWIW I'm not on VZW right now)

The double data deal is for a current line upgrading from 3G to 4G phone or a new line with a 4G device. In either case you must sign a 2-year agreement and the deal is only good for those 2 years (i.e. after 2 years you revert back to 2GB).

I have only ever heard that we are going to be grandfathered into it. Why do you think that's not going to be true? I'm not denying that you're right, I just want to be informed before I take the plunge. I guess as long as it is good for the 2 years that's all I really need, since I can reevaluate once I'm out of my contract.
