Google Wallet - No Root Needed :)

Installed that apk file, confirmed wallet on my phone w/ the $10, sped to Wawa and spent $8 using it and it worked flawlessly w/o having to unlock/root :D

I 'm heading to the mall with my wife and can't wait to spend my free $10 lol

Edit- I been waiting to get rid of my piece of shit Capital One Card.. My information has been stolen every other month on that card..

Citi MasterCard here I come!

I think the easiest way to install this is:

Send the captioned file to your gmail account as an attachment.

Then open the email and it will ask you right there "Do you want to install it". Install it!

Then it will walk you through the entire install process, entering your Citi bank card info, and BOOM> enter your activation code they email you, and you will then have your entire credit card limit on your Nexus ready to go shopping :)

Enjoy!

First make sure you've checked the option to allow installation of non-market apps. Settings>security>unknown sources

Then download the file from the original post to your computer.

Then transfer it to your phone.

Navigate to the file using your phone and a file explorer app like Astro.

Click it and select "install."

Edit: Or download it using your phone's browser then go to your "downloads" app and click the file.

You don't need to download to your computer first. You can download it from the browser on the phone just like you would on the computer or you can email the apk to yourself and click on the link in your email on the phone and it downloads it automatically. That's what I did.

I dont know if this happened to anyone else, but i was getting a "wallet has stopped working error. Once I did a restart it worked fine. Told me several times that wallet isn't approved for my country or device so I ignored that and added the prepaid card and it seemed to be working properly.

I dont know that I trust it with my credit card though... Probably won't be refilling for a little while once my $10 is out.

When I was looking on the google wallet website for locations - it definitely does not show all the locations in my area that take paypass.
If you compare it to the mastercard paypass locations website- there are some places not shown on the google wallet website.

Does anyone know if nfc google wallet will work at ANY paypass location? or just those shown on the google wallet website?

Curse you all. This is making me want this phone a lot sooner than I planned ... I still don't have the funds required yet!! ARGGG!!!

:p

They let me put up to $1,000 to my bill to pay later. Would this help you? I didn't take advantage of it because I didn't want to owe that later, but if I wouldn't have had the funds I definitely would have!

If you have DropBox or Box, it makes doing this SUPER easy. I use it to back up any sort of apps (either from old phones or ones I've found online while on my comp)

Just save the apk to your dropbox, open up dropbox app and click it... as long as you have the "allow 3rd party installations" checked then the entire process takes about 3 minutes.

I wouldn't be able to function without dropbox, lol.

You don't even have to use dropbox anymore for downloading apk. Ice Cream Sandwich has introduced the ability to install apks directly from the browser or email/gmail attachment.

Right, but if I'm on the computer when I come across the link - it is quicker to just download to dropbox and open in dropbox app. I guess technically I could chrome2phone the web address and then do it the way you suggested, but I'm not usually roaming the internet on my phone. That's not to say I don't use the browser, but I just use it for my bookmarks most of the time. That make sense? I ramble sometimes so I can never be sure, lol...
