Did you uninstall voice commands from your Droid X? that probably boinked something. I have very few problems with voice dial.

I think you misunderstood . It works fine on my Droid X. I backed up voice commands on the X and restored it onto the Nexus, but it just force closes.
I didn't try that until having problems with the voice dialer on the Nexus.
I also noticed that it will prompt me if using voice dial with the phone, but it automatically dials over bluetooth with no verification prompt.

I don't know if I'm in the right section but I just found out the Nexus doesn't play avi files which is a big downer for me, I was wondering if there was any way bypassing this, without having to convert files to put into my nexus like an i-product. Is there way to play any kind of file on the Galaxy Nexus? Thanks in advance.

When using speaker phone with volume all the way up the tones are not recognized. If you turn down the volume the tones are recognized. Example, checking voicemail on speaker phone. If the volume us all the way up the system tells you that the password is incorrect. However, if you turn the volume down the system will recognize the password.

Problem with goSMS is some are reporting sending wrong texts to people. Also with Handcent.

Without having to risk that, I'd rather be able to do that with the native app.

I'm pretty sure every single app is going to have someone saying it did something wrong, lol. I've used it for a few years now and never had an issue. Anyway, I was just saying that it possessed the power to do what you wanted, and that the entire device was not void of this option. It was simply just not built into the stock SMS program. I, personally, enjoy the added benefits GoSMS gives me above and beyond the ability to send audio files, but if you're hesitant because of a few people's review, then that is totally fine as well. I was only pointing at that (in your original post only) you acted as if the entire Nexus device was unable to perform a simple action, when that simply isn't true. Either way, I suspect it to be one of the "fixes" in future updates, so it shouldn't be a problem for those still using the stock app. I'm very hopeful that 4.0.3 will fix a few things on my "sh*tlist" as well, lol. Certain AVI files can be played, but finding out which ones can be tricky. I know you weren't thrilled with converting, but in this case the best idea is just to convert all AVI's to a different format in order to view it easily on your device. For this, you'll need conversion software. The website I check often for this sorta thing suggests a free program called Bigasoft Total Video Converter.

Have you tried mx video player or moboplayer? They both play just about any format I don't remember testing avi but I've tested mkv, mp4, and tp/ts. They support hardware and software acceleration (hardware acceleration can only be used on some formats).

Is anyone having trouble linking their phone to Picasa? I'm new to Picasa and able to access it just fine via computer, however when I have a picture in my gallary and go to send it to Picasa it doesn't let me get passed the Log-in page. It says "Account already exists" despite me choosing "sign in" rather than "create an account". Just for s'n'g's I just tried under "create an account" and it did the same thing.

That's kind of a relief. I was having no coverage in the wee hours this morning. Still can't get 4G anywhere. I was beginning to think I had a hardware issue and needed to take the phone back.

I checked both my "Email" app and my "Gmail" app (both going to the same account) and both have a very obvious magnifying glass as the 2nd icon from the left on the bottom of the screen. If that's not there on yours then I have no idea how to get it there.

Great. And with their recent purchase of Cox, they'll be expanding like crazy. So we're going to have the biggest 4G network imaginable, but it'll always be down because of itself. Just great! lol..

Okay, I've had my nexus for about a week now. I generally love the phone.

However, I just encountered a rather embarrassing bug. I work in a cube farm. So, I usually have my headphones connected to the phone and listen to music/radio during the day so as not to disturb my cube-mates. Well, last night I downloaded a 'Sanford and Son' ringtone. Yes, it's loud and obnoxious, but I like it. Anyway, I'm sitting at my desk today with my headphones on, and my phone begins to ring. Just then, my coworker comes dancing into my cube. To my surprise the ringer plays through the external speaker even when headphones are connected. In fact, so do notifications and alarms.

My original droid would route ALL sound through the headphones when they are connected, which is what I expected the Galaxy Nexus to do also. Is this a bug, or a 'feature'? I really need ALL audio to route through the headphones when they are connected. HELP!!

Does the ringer audio play through your external speaker when headphones are connected? Can someone with a Galaxy Nexus please recreate the audio issue to confirm it is not isolated to my phone?

1) Make sure your phone ringer is turned up (not in silent mode)
2) Plug in a set of headphones
3) Call your phone
4) Listen to external speaker for ringer audio

I am having an issue when listening to my podcasts in Doggcatcher or even the stock Google Music apps where a few seconds after the screen turns (either on its own or manually) the sound jitters and pops constantly, like the phones CPU is being over taxed to the point where it can't handle push audio to the speakers. One guy has said this may be related to the phone going into a low power mode. The solution was to get power AMP and adjust certain settings, like the audio buffer size and turning on the equalizer to force the phone to stay awake.

This would be fine for just listening to tunes as it's not a bad player, but I prefer to listen to my podcasts in Doggcatcher because of it's superior podcast management features.

Is this normal, a nexus bug, or should I return my phone?

I will say even after using volume+ the external speaker is not all that great, but it's not terrible... I guess. Not as good as my OG droid.

and furthermore, I don't think the headphone jack is as good, either. Headphones fit a lot more snugly, with much less feedback, but the amp settings out of the box seem...well, not great.

I haven't tried to fine tune the speaker levels in volume+, but I'm not a sound engineer, and it's a little frustrating I have to tweak the settings at all to get sound on par with my 2 year old Droid. Mark this down as a "known problem"

Also add the some black areas on the phone can look purple-ish... maybe this is something common to AMOLED but I don't like it

I don't have a solution for you, but I have been using doggcatcher almost daily since I got the Gnex and have not encountered the problem you described. I didn't have to do anything special to get it to work. Are you streaming the podcasts or are they local? Are you on wifi or cell data?

The podcasts are all local on my phone. Some of them I transferred over from my Dinc and others were downloaded new as they are released. I'm thinking maybe I should go back to Verizon and get a replacement. I had an issue where I was downloading a large app (~122Mb) from the Market while listening to a music podcast and I could tell between the constant distortion that the beat actually appeared to be about 35-40% slower and then it just stopped playing completely.
