What's Your Inspire "Exit Strategy"?

Any plans to replace your Inspire? If so, timeline and what are you looking for in your next device?

Or just planning to hang on for awhile? Nothing wrong with that.

For me, AT&T recently rolled out LTE in my area, so there was an immediate temptation to change. I'm glad I haven't given in just yet. Gonna wait and see. SGS3 and other ICS handsets will be out next year, as well as Nokia (I've used a Windows Phone for a year, so I'm interested to see what new hardware that platform will offer).

In the meantime, I'm very happy w/my Inspire 4G.

Of course! I'm on the most expensive carrier in the US, if they're going to give me $300 towards a new phone next year I'm for sure going to take it!

I have 2 main wants:
1. As good or better Cyanogenmod support compared to the inspire. I love this rom and won't even switch to ics until cyanogenmod 9 comes out with all the cool cm features.

2. hdmi out. For watching breaking bad at work! I lost my dsl gangsta-internet connection at work and cant be watching netflix all day on the corp lan so 4.3" screen it is for now.

edit: If my upgrade were today instead of 300 something days from now I'd get a 4S, sell it on ebay for profit, put the $ into something that earns until a worthy inspire-replacement comes out. The vivid and GS2 just don't do it for me for ugliness and no cm reasons.

I still have over a year to go before i can get the discounted upgrade, so... im going to wait until that time to get a new phone, Android of course, so helpfully by then some of the LTE bugs will be worked out with the network and the phones. And by then ICS will be on its way out the door and Jelly Bean (or what ever is next) will be out.

I would like a 4.5 inch display, I think thats the best size for a smart phone, any bigger and its in the verge of becoming a tablet.... lol..

I've played around with a vivid in the store and it's 4.5 but it seems smaller, liket thinner side to side maybe it's a different aspect ratio. Infuse or gs2 are 4.5 and they definitely seem bigger. I want something like a streak or g-note!

After 10 months, I'm still perfectly happy with the Inspire.
For now, I don't feel any pressure to upgrade ... though I'm sure I will the minute I'm able

when i switch it's probably to a full keyboard phone. i don't care about thickness, but typing on a touchscreen is just so frustrating (tried swype, didn't like it). however, by the time i will be getting a new phone, AKA when my current phone plan ends, all the current day eyecandy will be outdated junk.

single-carrier samsung franken-phones are bad news. They don't have the resources at samsung to make updates or at least working updates for anything but the big international phones. You may not get ics, if you do it will likely be broken and you surely will not get jellybean or whatever's next.

Buy it only if you're happy with the gingerbread on it without hope of ics. If you end up seeing an update for ics, wait until others try it.

I have my inspire for over 6 months now, and i love it but im in the market for a new replacement. I just bought my gf the htc vivid, yes the screen is bigger but its just longer not wider. The aspect ratio is different. Personally i think the 4.3 screen is more that perfect for a smart phone any bigger you mind as well have a tablet on your face.

.....but.....i have a close friend who works at ATT and give me an upgrade any time i want a new phone ever if im not eligible for one ...and he told me there coming out in February-march-ish, with a direct replacement and upgrade to the inspire. Its gonna hold a quad-core 1.5 ghz processor, more ram and the same size screen. And it will have ICS from the factory. I dont know how true all of the info is but if this is the phone thats coming out to replace the Inspire, I dont care how much i have to pay for it, i will own it. My single core overclocked is fast as hell, i cant imagine a quad core overclocked...it might just take off out of my hand...LOL

Got my inspire when it was released so I've had it for close to a year. Contract ends in march so i can't wait to see what phones are out by then. Hopefully the Galaxy Nexus will be on AT&T by then.

I dont think the Nexus will ever be on AT&T. They have always stuck to Verizon.

In my case, I don't live in the US so I'm not attached to any plan. I got mine from Amazon and my next smart phone will come from there to. I would like another HTC, but they are sort of staying behind on this race. I'm waiting for something similar to a Vivid but with Android.

That said, I still love my Inspire. I've had it for 5 months and the first month was a nice experiences. Then I rooted and the love got bigger. My only complain would be the battery (old one) and the lack of a front facing camera.

Actually replaced mine already.

I bought my phone at Best Buy the very first day it came out. It just so happened that was also the first week of their buy back program and they were offering it for free that week.

Somehow I became eligible again right when the iphone 4s came out. I traded my Inspire for an Iphone and only paid 9 out of pocket after getting 240 back from best buy. I also only paid 19 plus 42 tax the first time around with best buy price matching so i netted 179 by being in the buy back program.

Now when I become eligible again when AT&T has LTE up and running in LA I will probably get another android phone. Until then I am relatively happy with the Iphone although I do miss features from the Inspire.

The best feature in my new phone is the front facing camera and the facetime. I love being able to see my wife and little kids at home when I am at work.

I really feel like getting an ICS device is pointless, JB will be out before you know it.

Plus I really don't like ICS, I like Honeycomb on tablets and GB on my phone much better.

Already upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy Note LTE

My HTC was nice, but in the end I hated how the battery died in like 8 hours...

I've rooted my Note with an ICS ROM and love it...battery lasts all day now.

Soon I'm going to upgrade to the Galaxy S3. I love my Inspire, but I hate that it's not going to be getting any love from ICS and the fact that it's kinda old IMO.

I'm actually at a loss. I like the size of this phone, 4.3 inches is perfect. I know the new One V is the same size, but the tech specs are way too low. I've got another half year left, so I'll keep hoping HTC comes out with another 4.3 inch phone with quad core CPU and 2gig RAM. Overkill for right now maybe, but in another few years it'll be bare minimum.

Hard to believe that the Inspire 4G was the latest and greatest just a short time ago.
I carry 2 phones (I know, I know) and for me I only use my Inspire 4G as a work phone for email and voice so not having ICS or JB is not a big deal.
