Help What to backup before wiping phone?

I've kind of asked this question long ago (Nov 2011?), but don't recall getting a definitive answer. Exactly what (and HOW if anyone is feeling verbose) do I backup my Rezound so that after I wipe the phone clean, I can get back all my contacts, calendar data, settings, apps and app data? I have my calendar synched to Google so I guess I can synch from Google for calendar data.

I made an attempt to find what should be backed up and all I came up with is these folders:

app (seems to contain all the APK files)
data (seems to contain app settings and databases)

Looks like data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contacts2.db contains my contacts. Can someone confirm that's true?

Anything else?

The point of asking, in case it isn't obvious, is so I can restore the phone to how it is now after I wipe the phone clean.

Your contacts, calendar, and PAID apps will be stored through your gmail account.
Texts - SMS Backup and Restore
MMS - Any work great
Regular free apps and settings you can't backup unless you have root and then use Titanium Backup
Data (game scores, etc) again...only if you have root can you use Titanium Backup

My Backup Pro. They also have a free version, but it's on sale at $2.99 at the moment. I just used it a few minutes ago when I had to do a factory reset. It restores everything back the way you had it including putting all of your apps back where you had them. After the new setup, it deletes any contacts on your phone before restoring the backup contacts so there aren't any duplicates. You can also choose what data to backup and restore. Great app. They also have a version for rooted phones, but I think most people use Titanium for rooted phones.

I don't synch contacts with Google, and I still want my FREE apps back. Guess maybe a synch of all things Google on my phone is an option before wiping. And I guess I should make a list of all my downloaded apps just in case something goes wrong.

Astro file manager is free and it will back all your apps to your ext sd card.

or you can just save a list of your apps by using appbrain

If you are rooted then yes, I think so (it should say in the app)

Well, I rooted with CleanTOOL and then did a user apps + system data backup using TitaniumBackup Free so I think I'm good now.

Presumably I can now do a perm root (per HTC's web site), play with ROMs, use TiBackup to restore my apps and system data, and should get my phone back to the way it was but with a cleaner ROM. In theory, of course, until I do it successfully !

Seems like MyBackupPro won't backup app data unless you are rooted. Which is not the app's fault as this is system protected. One of the bugaboos I have when I have to reset my phone is losing all my game saved files. Titanium does a great job when you are rooted to backup all including app data.
