I'm having a little issue I'm hoping someone can help me with

I just rooted my HTC EVO 4G using the revolutionary method

Everything went fine. Rooted perfectly. Installed ROM Manager, downloaded cm7

I then went and downloaded the tiamat kernel and installed it from zip

However, I never applied cm7 before doing this. Only installed

The issue is I'm stuck in clockworkmod recovery....

I installed from zip, rebooted. When I reboot, it goes straight back to clockworkmod recovery

How would I reboot my phone so I could install cm7 and then reinstall the kernel?

Would factory reset help? or would that wipe my sd card? (My concern is losing superuser and having to root again?)

Any feedback would be amazing! Thanks in advance

welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!
moved you to the rooting section.

did you make a nandroid backup before flashing the kernel? if so you can restore it in recovery. remember that nandroid backups are your friend.

with clockwork mod recovery you can select mount storage and mount usb storage and have your phone connected to the pc. from there you can load a rom onto the card and then flash it from there.

and as you know now kernels are flashed after you flash a rom.

Ok a couple of things here

1) You mentioned ROM Manager. Stay away from it. It has proven to be buggy and is honestly more trouble than it's worth. You would be well advised to just download roms and kernels from their hosted sites directly and flash EVERYTHING manually through recovery. Which brings me to...

2) Get Amon RA 2.3 to replace Clockworkmod. See the link in my signature. It's easy to install and is the best recovery available for the Evo. Your recovery is what allows you to flash mods to your phone, and create/restore backups that you make. Other recoveries have issues time to time. Amon RA 2.3 does not.

3) A factory reset will not wipe your SD card and will not require you to reroot. By rooting your phone with Revolutionary, you turned your securities off (S-OFF) and can now write to all phone partitions. Worst case scenario would be that you have to re-flash the super user file or something, but you'll come to find out that all custom roms come with superuser already installed.

Thanks for the help!

Here's where I'm at now...

Replaced clockworkmod with Amon RA. That's now my recovery

I installed PC36IMG.zip to sd card

So now I can get into the bootloader screen, or the Amon RA screen

In bootloader, it'll load up the PC36IMG.zip and ask me to update. I say yes

It asks me to reboot phone, I say no. If I do I just end up back at the same screen so what's the point?

I believe my problem is I have no operating system so it will not boot up the phone to android...?

How would I go about installing a rom or any os from recovery so my phone can boot normally?

From there I'll reinstall any roms and kernels I'd like from direct source, in CORRECT order!

Thanks so much for the help already!

If you want to install CM7, you need to go here and download the latest stable release. You will also need the Gapps file that can be found in here. Transfer them to the root of your sdcard using the usb toggle option in recovery. Wipe everything except the sdcard from recovery then flash the CM7 zip. Reboot your phone fully. Reboot to recovery, wipe cache and dalvik-cache then flash the Gapps zip. You should have all the Google Apps at that point and a functioning CM7 rom installed on your phone. You can flash Tiamat after that if you are still wanting to by wiping cache and dalvik-cache then flashing the kernel.

You can get rid of the PC36IMG file for Amon Ra after you get it flashed if you want. Or rename it so it doesn't try and update every time you go to the bootloader
