List of Apps using AirPush

GameFly surprised me by using this crap. I still have an app that's not showing up for any of the discovery tools. I've been removing apps one at a time to figure out which one it is. And I'm getting down to mainly apps I've had for a long time, and I'm afraid it's going to be one I will miss. Anyone know if any of the themes for ADW or the Android Pro Widget set? I'm getting very frustrated at the audacity to HIDE this nuisance advertising. I'm especially angry with the idiots who make it worthwhile by clicking this crap over and over.... If they would stop this stuff would become useless.

AdddonsDetector detected Speaktoit Assistant (similar to Siri for iPhone) for push notifications though I have yet to see any push notifications hit my device. I've had it installed for nearly a month now. Would it be safe to assume that the app is safe or should ALL push notifications that are detected be considered for removal?

Thanks in advance.

I think, Addons Detector just shows all apps with addons of advertise companies which are known for using AirPush on free apps.

So if you haven't got any ad notifications yet you dont't need to uninstall this app.
And when you have the paid version of this app you never won't get ad notifications from this app ;)

I recently downloaded Free MP3 Downloader from the Android Marketplace and found that I was getting annoying adds in my notification bar and ads placed on my home screen. After doing my research and downloading/installing AirPush Detector (great app btw), I found that Free MP3 Downloader does indeed contain AirPush. Uninstalling immediately.

Edit:

No problem. =) If you REALLY want to push it, you could go to a couple of various forums, and start threads warning other users to avoid like the plague, then send the links to those threads to the Dev. I have to do this once in order to pressure an internet sales company to actually get around to mailing out the stuff I paid for. It worked, FWIW.

I dont have any of those apps from the list. I now see that the mp3 downloader app that my add takes me to is now removed from the market. I thought maybe I had some sort of virus or malware, so I downloaded AVG and ran a scan that didn't find anything either. Then uninstalled pretty much all of my apps and the notification is still there. So, I have no idea.

Any other thoughts?

I appreciate the help.

sincerely,

Dave

Tried the lookout app and came back negative for any results as well. I'll have to try the log search sometime when I havea little more time on my hands to play. The ad now changed what app it takes me to in the market. it now refers to it as the "featured" app. but stays in the notification bar when I click on it. Seems weird almost like it is android market ad. The app is never available when I click the notification.

Thanks for all the help! may just have to live with it; it's not overly invasive just annoying.

Regards,

Dave

A new post about AirPush: Airpush ad network continues to grow *cough* SPAM on the Android platformAndroidGuys

Includes a link to the new(ish) Lookout app for detecting AirPush apps: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.lookout.addetector&referer=utm_sour ce%3DAndroid+App+Sharer%26utm_medium%3DAndroidGuys %26utm_campaign%3Dblogpost

Remember, Devs, if we find apps that use AirPush we will give them bad ratings and reviews, uninstall them, and post their names the lists on various forums.

Smart TV Remote Control + DLNA uses Airpush as it says so in the description too. Ads started showing soon after the installation. Also ad specific web links started appearing in my home screen, I think it's that app again since I've never experienced behavior like that before.
mjschmidt may I suggest that you make an actual list in the beginning of the thread. It's pretty much a mess trying to find anything here.
