I love the "idea" of what the eris does, but to be brutally honest, i do not think it is a GREAT phone. Texting is terrible...and the lag is annoying. Maybe i am asking too much from my first smartphone. But with the release today of info saying that 2.1 will not be available for awhile...and the HTC Incredible and the N1 will both be available thru verizon in the next few weeks...i think it would be silly to hang on to this phone past my 30 days.

I called verizon...and they were amazing..no questions asked...go ahead and send it back and when you are ready to try a new phone give us a call back.

Anyone want to bu the OtterBox Commuter for $25 shipped? Its 1 day old...:p

What is this new info of which you speak? Afaik, there has been no official word from Verizon outside of Q1 2010. Is that really that far off?

Gl on whatever phone you go with though.

All U.S. Android phones to receive Android 2.1, but some will require a wipe – Android and Me

and:

HTC Incredible Could Launch from Verizon in the Next Few Weeks

Don't get me wrong...i don't hate the eris...i just have 5 more days to avoid missing out on a better phone. 2 years is a long time. Its nothing personal its business:D

Yeah, I read saw that link earlier. I'm a little confused by it though. The 2.x update for eris has NEVER been publicly scheduled for a Q2 2010 release. Verizon has stated numerous times Q1 2010. I don't know if that's a typo or what. If Verizon was truly pushing the update back an entire quarter I'd think some bigger waves would have been made than just this one article.

I agree with you. The Nexus One is the way to go and rumor has it. it come out March 23rd or something like that. Not sure how long it will take for it to become obsolete when another more powerful phone comes out, but the 1Ghz processor is going to be king.

Wait it out a few months with your old phone, and then get the N1. The only thing that might be worth noting is that there may be some technical issues. I know the N1 had them with T-Mobile, but supposedly they aren't that good anyways. Still, you never know, it may be the phone that doesn't play nice.

I am on my 5th day of owning the Droid Eris. I love it, but just upgraded to a new 2 year contract, I don't believe I'll enjoy it when the Incredible pops out.

If I may ask this question within this thread: I am planning to return my Eris to Verizon within the 30 days guarantee thing, and return to an old phone. Will they allow me to upgrade in a month or two to maybe the rumored Incredible along with it's promotional price? Or do I have to upgrade within the 30 days that's running on my account as we speak? I would appreciate the help.

Btw I looked up in the return policy and couldn't find the answer.
