I would hate if Motorola would make a phone called the "Droid 2" because anytime they make a second one, it makes it seem like the company is saying that they think the previous one was a failure. Example: Blackberry Storm
If they continue the "Male targeted 'hacker/techie' phone" style, here are my requirments to upgrade:
1.Comes with SU (root) access
2.Improved keyboard (Raised buttons, and full number keys)
3.Android 3.0 (I think they should only make it when there is an upgrade worthy of a new phone. I think 3.0 will come out in 12-14 months)
4.1ghz processor (before being overclocked) with standard battery life.
1. 1ghz + processor
2. Super amoled screen (possibly higher res)
3. Internal memory
4. Camera that can rival lower level standalone cameras
5. More ram (comprable to HD2)
My requirements may sound like a lot, but let's say that the next installment of the droid doesn't come out for 8-9 months, that's a long time. Plus, most of those specs are already in phones that are coming out within the next month.

Intel i7 quad core (12ghz ), 10 gigs of ram,1 terabyte flash drive, 5"screen, 20 megapixel camera with 50x zoom lens, 100,000 mah battery. Now THAT would be the phone to get!
1) Larger screen; maybe 4.3", and OLED would be nice too
2) A more obvious difference between keys on the keyboard
3) Snapdragon or some other high-speed platform
4) (If it's out by then) 4G data!!!
I also don't think providing root access to users would be smart because you have to realize the vast majority of consumers have no idea what they're doing. Giving them root access is not a good idea. If you're smart enough to root your phone, THEN you're smart enough to have root access.
I would actually buy that! The bigger the better, until it doesn't fit in my pocket anymore (insert pre-emptive "that's what she said" here ).
Only if they increased the resolution accordingly though! A bigger screen with the same resolution as a smaller screen is uglier than the smaller screen, and who wants that?
