Root How do i edit an update.zip

here is what i'm trying do accomplish. I want to use the newest Bugless beast rom update.zip but i want to insert the Adamz kernal, wifi driver, and a framework-res file so it can all be installed in 1 update. reason for this is i have 3 friends that i have rooted phones for and would like to keep them updated with the most current rom but i want them to only have to install 1 file (they are not very tech savy).

so anyways i tried simply dropping those files in there appropriate place and installing it but i get an error "(bad) installation aborted"

so what do i need to creat/edit an update.zip file. i read maybe i need to sign the update but i have no idea how to do that.
can anyone help?

My guess is there is some installation initialization or command file in there that tells the installer what to do and may be causing problems. Did you use the same file names as the files you were replacing when you put them in the update archive?

Actually, I think it's due to the fact that the updater users SHA1 hashes to verify the components being installed are the ones they say they are.

Basically whomever built the update.zip would have to re-build it from eclipse (or whatever build tool they used) to re-generate the SHA-1 digest hashes in the META-IMF folder. (think of SHA-1 digests as like a signature of sorts)

Long story short, what you're trying to do is likely not possible, I'm 99% sure you need to go through a build process to make an update.zip

Here is a thought.. do one set-up on your phone then a nandroid backup, then copy the back-up to install on their phones.. so you do the multi-installs on yours, then a single nandroid for them?

I found my answer. the update.zip needs to be resigned. i found a guide on how to do that it's accually extremely easy
