Any roms better than Fresh 1.1??

pancake is nice... and yes it's fast.. but for ME it seems to use the battery up a bit faster..like I said.. for me it does.. until the new kitchen gets released I'll just stick with Fresh as my daily ROM and play with the others...

Mystic, quit hating. Pancake saves my battery IMO.

ha, just playing man, but yeah pancake seems to be a little bettery on my battery, BUT i did uninstall setCPU, so that might have made the difference or not. Not sure really.

who knows.. but like I said for ME.. Fresh is easier on my battery.. as with anything computer related (these are mini computers after all) what works great on one configuration might not on another with identical hardware.. no hating going on for pancake.. but I bet it would be better with some maple syrup.. maybe some bacon and hash browns too...

I do have another couple versions to test... but that's for tomorrow

What exactly defines a "ROM"? I mean, is just removing the Sprint apps considered making your own ROM? Or are there other changes things like Pancake 0.1 do to the phone that make it a ROM?

Just something that popped into my head the past couple days while reading

ROM=Read Only Memory... or in the case of our phones.. a ROM is the entire OS and Apps all packaged into one nice complete bundle. so if you removed the sprint apps and then bundled it all up into a distributable package, then yes, it would be a ROM

Well, newbs like me, would make a rom like that. Just removing stuff I don't want. However, ditkmap tweaked the settings etc. and used the gumbo kernal, already flashed with his rom instead of loading it seperate, to build his.

His rom is fast man, like super fast. But that is all I know.

+1 for pancake 0.1. Been using it for a few days and It seems pretty fast, just wish someone made a ROM that eliminated my browser keyboard lag. That is probably my biggest bitch about this phone. I flashed the gumbo .31 kernel over it, because it seems to do a better job at task managing.

yeah, how is that working out for you? I was wondering If I should flash the .31 kernal or not. My phone seems to be doing pretty good with what came with the Pancake 0.1 rom, so not sure if I really wanted to flash it or not.

So many ROM to choose and test. What gonna happen once 2.1 comes out?
So far I tested following: Fresh, Gumbo 1.5c and Pancake. I'm currently running my own version of Pancake modified ROM ;) and I think battery life is good. This is w/o SetCPU. x-ing fingers.

Man, I put SetCPU with my Pancake and my phone worked SUPER DUPER SLOW!!!!!! Probably not set setCPU causing it, BUT I uninstalled it and it ran great once again.

More free RAM, haven't noticed too much of a speed increase. Battery life is just as good with either kernel, which in my opinion is the best it has ever been.

Okay....so, I finally decided to root my HERO...and I gotta say, I don't know if I did it right. I guess I was expecting the seas to part or the earth to shake, because to me, It seems like it's just ....eh. I rooted it with Fresh and then added the Gumbo kernel....I think. It's running, working and all. But, I don't see the bundled apps. Where do look for them?? Did I do something wrong??
