Was v.excited this morning when I went to check for new software update as it had been widely reported that ICS would be available to UK users from today
Imagine my disappointment when I got a null result & was even further p*ssed off with 3's response that their development teams are still looking at the update as they are not sure if ICS will be compatible with all of their features....
Is it just 3 that are a bit rubbish or are the other UK networks slow to get their act together?

Just download the ICS update via ODIN and bypass 3 all together. I'm on 3 and there are loads of links on this forum to show you how to do this. No more bloatware as well!
Erm, people who value their warranty maybe? Or don't want locked out of future updates? Or maybe simply don't feel comfortable using an unsupported software tool that can, as several posts in here testify, render your handset in-op with the wrong option?

Exactly..... Its not like you can get on site servicing after update via ODIN or after rooting. You mostly relying on online advice unless you know someone who knows how to fix if things go wrong.
The thing with Android is, its already amazing what it can do without going down those roads. And as long as Kies, Android, and the phone works comfortably enough for an individual, it should be their choice to go down the extra road or remain as is.
We are working as quickly as possible to bring Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) to our Galaxy S II customers. The UK roll out commenced on Monday 19th March and will continue over the coming weeks, however the availability of software upgrades will be subject to each network
