[Verizon] Here you go! One Step Unlock/Root or ReLock/Unroot!

Has anyone used the backup and restore function? I'm curious to know how well it works because I didn't read up ahead of time to find out that unlocking the bootloader requires a full wipe. I have done a ton of customization and don't want to loose that.

One more thing, I came from an HTC Thunderbolt and it was disaasterous if you accepted an OTA update while rooted (if not on a custom ROM) what is the deal with the GNex? At this point I don't want to use a custom ROM, but I want to be rooted to use TiBu.

TIA!

It says it will create a folder on your pc with all your backup of your apps, but will wipe the sdcard so make sure you back up your pics :)

I used this method for unlocking my bootloader and flashing my rom but when i tried the last step(download rom mananger) and tried to flash clockworkmod it did nothing no model selection came up. whats the purpose of this last step?
Please help

rbreban,

Welcome to the AndroidForums!

So, you've already flashed a custom ROM? (I'm guessing you didn't if you couldn't get ClockworkMod installed...?).

The reason I asked is that I'm guessing that if you haven't installed a custom ROM, then you probably still have the /system/recovery-from-boot.p file present which will cause Android to automatically re-flash the stock recovery.

If you have already flashed a custom ROM, then you probably shouldn't have lost your custom recovery.

Also, you're saying that ROM Manager wasn't able to identify your device to present you with a particular version of CWM to flash?

Let me know...I've got some suggestions for you depending on what you reply back with. We'll get you fixed-up, though :).

Cheers!

i checked on the supported device list..my galaxy s2 is 2.3.6 gingerbread.DXKL3, NOT IN THE LIST..
NEED INFO PLEASE..

Wug's unlock tool was made for the galaxy nexus, not the s2. for information on unlocking/rooting the s2, check out these threads, depending on your carrier:

So maybe it's just me but there seems to be a step I'm missing trying to get root to finish?

I'm unlockled now, but then I get on my phone a ton of options from team win recovery project v2.2.0
None of this I can find a step by step guide from the Wug's Galaxy Nexus Root Toolkit.

What did I miss?
Also the version of Wug's Galaxy Nexus Root Toolkit I'm using is the newest 1.5.3 that doesn't offer 2 options for Root. Just a root button and a custom recovery flash checkbox???
