-Galaxy Nexus crashes-- every time it's turned on it goes to the unlock screen
-Recovery mode's ''wipe data/factory reset'' no help-- booting brings me right back to unlock screen
-device manager on galaxy nexus: ''This device cannot start. (code 10)''

Well, since you can access recovery, do you have a nandroid backup you can revert to? That'd be the easiest fix by far. Otherwise a toolkit would be the next easiest so long as you can get the phone recognized by a PC in your current state.

If not, you could use the 4.0.2 kernel (Tuna 013m) from HERE which can be flashed via recovery. Only trick there would be getting the file pushed to the sd partition which could be done via adb. Little trick I learned from Scary Alien is to use CWM options to install zip from sd card, then choose zip from sd card, then stop and don't choose anything. That action just forced the sd card to mount so you can then adb push a file to it via a shell session using the push location /data/media. (virtual sd card)

Lastly, you could fastboot flash stock 4.0.2 by downloading the stock 4.0.2 image file from HERE. It sounds like you didn't yet upgrade to 4.0.3 before you ran into issues, so if that's the case, you want the file for ICL53F. Details for this procedure can be found HERE.

I am moving this thread to the Gnex All Things Root section since we are dealing with a rooted phone here.

Cheers,
IBT

Did you try flashing a google stock rom to it?

I actually downloaded one yesterday but I was confused about how to flash it from my comp. Can you explain how I could do that?

EDIT: Praise God, root toolkit got it back. Thanks for suggestions all. Went to ''Flash stock + unroot'' and entered ''I have already installed the stuffs'' this time.

I hope you did as i ...by sending a small donation to the maker (Mark) of the software
As i know it saved me the trouble of a car journey and a bill from the repairer

Gang, I'm in a bit of a pickle myself. My phone looks exactly like the pics post herein. My computer will not recognize my device. I have tried for hours to install new drivers in hopes my device will pop up and I can push a .zip but to no avail.

I have been at this for over 10 hours now... flashing the stock images is over my head and my brain hurts...

If anyone is willing to help me, I would be forever greatful! Perhaps you could email me for easier correspondence. tjdonnell@yahoo.com
