Orange UK 4.0.3 - Live now

I updated as well about a hour ago, at first the menu's seemed slightly laggy but after a few reboots i think its gone, also had to sort out all my menu's again but nothing major once its done.

it seems very nice, i really wish we could have the proper ics home screen instead of the old style one, why is that? is it because it requires more power or beause of the layout of the buttons on the s2?

the only other thing i want to know is about swype keyboard, i like this keyboard a lot and its nice to see a big update to the latest version, does anyone know if the version on ics can be updated to newer versions or do we still have to just wait for new ics updates to get the latest swype?

i remember a while back swype announced they were releasing versions of swype that could auto update rather than having to manually do it, so now sure if thats the case with this version?

Shame Sky Go doesnt supprt ICS

I was going to mention this in a dedicated thread but might post something over at XDA. But probably not for your reasons lol!

I thought that too, in that SkyGo was not compatible with ICS. Whilst on GB I flashed a stock kernal over my CF-root V4.2 one, retaining the root but then by using Voodoo and hiding my root and using a skygotest.apk, I was able to use SkyGo whilst retaining my root.

Then the day before yesterday I learned that CPW sim-free firmware phones were able to update to ICS and so I upgraded.

Not expecting to view SkyGo channels I was completely knocked over as my phone views them perfectly!!! The upgrade to ICS now means my phone is non-rooted, I am still using the test.apk and Voodoo is no longer hiding my root, because there isn't one to hide lol!

So why can I view via SkyGo?

slug does the nexus not use TouchWiz UI then, also being a samsung phone? or does it but they have developed that phone to use both TouchWiz UI and the proper ics home screen?

The Galaxy Nexus is manufactured by Samsung on behalf of google.

It still is primarily a google phone. Hence it has everything purely stock.

If you are a fan of the ICS UI you may want to try a third party launcher.
I can recommend Nova launcher (my current default), there are several others out there on the Play store.

considering we only got 2.3.6 in the last 2 weeks i'm not holding my breath for ICS on my 9100p

Actually, it's good news that you've had 2.3.6 recently as the i900 had it about a week before the ICS update from Orange.

Now that the ICS for the i9100 is out, it's only a small software add-on, to accommodate NFC, that is neede for ICS on the "P" variant. Providing that Samsung have released such an update to the carriers, it's not a big step for release as the donkey work has been done, by-and-large.

Hi,

First time poster and not sure if I'm in the right place. Apologies in advance...

Just updated my S2 to 4.0.3 last night and one obvious thing I have noticed is that my contacts button is now missing from the bottom of the main screen. Where as with GB I used to have four buttons at the bottom (phone, contacts, messaging and applications) this has now gone down to three (phone, messaging and applications). What makes it worse is that when you go in to "phone" you can't get to your contacts from there either. I've seen videos on YouTube of S2's with the four buttons at the bottom on ICS. Is this an Orange thing or am I missing something here? Seems a bit stupid to make it difficult to call your contacts...

Thanks for any help.
