I will be upgrading from an iPhone 4 with unlimited data to this phone. Will I get any crap about going to a 4G plan an keeping unlimited data?

Long story, but what i plan on doing is upgrading my wifes iphone to the sg3 i want now, an when my upgrade in sept is due, i will get my wife the iphone5. Would i need to go ahead an upgrade my wife to my old 4G thunderbolt so she can get the unlimited 4G data plan before the mass screwjob takes place?

Ships by does not mean that's when it will ship. It just means Verizon does not yet know when they will allow for it to ship but that it will ship by then. If the big wigs decide to let it ship next week then it will ship next week. untill its been decided its pretty much open ended.

No, they will send you a sim with the phone and once you get it all you have to do is call a # and it will activate it and then you are good to go.

Because the press release said pre sale starts at 7:00ET. It was 6:11CT (7:11ET) and it still wasn't on the site when I refreshed. I had to give up and go to work. Just venting, really. I ended up ordering online via my Droid X while on break at 11:30CT. Still got the July 9th ship date. Blue 32Gb, kept my unlimited data! Can't wait!

It's not true Global phone where you go buy a prepaid sim card in another country and stick it in, it's global roaming. You have to buy a global plan in 30 day increments (or pay per minute) and use the phone anywhere you want. The SG3, along with a few of other phones will be upgraded as soon as Verizon gets their network updated to support it.

WTF? I am glad I jumped on this. Wife is thinking of getting it to lock in Unlimted but wants to see it. I hope the shortage doesn't last too long so she can see it and lock in. Up side is she likely will get white, something about not wanting a phone that looks EXACTLY like mine.

Good thing I preordered one earlier this afternoon. I think the blue is on shortage for awhile since they had to redo the blue ones. I went with white because for some reason white just looked better to me. It looks like once again Samsung is going to have a great selling phone in this if it sold out in less than a day. I am sure they probably did not have that many saved up but it is still a good sign showing what people want.

Hmm, Ordered mine, 16gb blue, at 4pm Arizona time and confirmation for. It just seems odd that they would be sold out a month before the estimated ship date (7/9)

There may be allotted quantities per geographical area. Once orders max out the area distribution center, they may be calling it "sold out" even though other areas still have it.

This is NOT true. I have just pre-ordered one on verizonwireless.com in about 5 minutes ago and it went through with no problem. I also got an email confirmation right away. It will be shipped by July 9.

I bought the 32GB White for $249.99 + $30 upgrade fee, using my eligible upgrade discount. Then I added the anti-glare screen protectors and the white silicon cover.

By the way, I am keeping my unlimited data plan.

For those who received huge discounts, what did you say to the CS rep to get the discount? I've had a DX since launch and I'm itching to bail on that phone. The Verizon site says I have a final order price of $260...and thats with a $30 discount...meh.

Not sure how, but I'd love to knock a little off that price if i can haha

I've also had a DX since launch. I called a rep and got a 32gb white one for free. Online, I would have had to pay full price.

I showed her videos of what SGS3 does, and I'll tell you this: I have never, EVER seen her drool over a phone before! She usually gives me the deer-in-the-headlights look and this phone really gets her attention.

My better half is not a techy... she is just happy to be upgrading to a 4g phone from her Dinc.

With the 4.0.4 builds and radios I've had very little issues the last month. However, my experience the first 5 months with the Nex has left a bad taste in my mouth. However, She carries none of the bagage I have from the delayed launch and the let down because of the subsequent 5 months dealing with a almost unusable phone... so win-win.

I pre ordered at best buy! 16gb blue It says 28th, and that date is looking good. I asked a verizon rep on the online chat and they said it is very possible! Here it is:
