Hi,
Seems a little strange don't you think that nobody got a virgin mobile branded phone, they still are stocking the sprint branded one's....hmmmm...I myself am waiting to see what happens, if they produce the VM branded phones....I would think that they would have run through the stock of sprint branded phones by now.......isn't anybody else curious as to what is going on with that....

Right exactly let the old stock of sprint branded phones exhaust out...and the new VM branded phones will work better....looks like the VM phones are starting to make the shelves soon.
Why would they work better, the only change is the logos and a color.

Sure, they won't be flashed by monkeys, but if you get a good Evo V now, it's the exact same thing you will get later. VM already confirmed this.

The new phones will not be reflashed and they will be less buggy... my phone crashes at least ten times a day and im waiting to get a vm branded replacement. Phones designed for sprint on vm's network can have problems like mine does. Waiting insures you get a "good Evo v"

It's comparable to the Triumph: They sucked at first, and while they still aren't great, they're better then when they were released. The same thing happened with the Optimus V. These are the "First Run" or "First batch". I'm sure if you bought one in a month or even in a week or two it would be perfectly fine and you'd have a far less chance of getting a buggy one.

A lot of the hysteria here about huge masses of defective products is all psychological. As we've seen, many people here have perfectly functioning evos. And if somebodies phone is working flawlessly, then they have little reason to post otherwise. My Optimus V worked fine and I got it on release day with thousands, possibly millions of others. Some of those people almost certainly received lemons, because of the odds. Heck, there was a guy on these forums who got the voice mail glitch because somebody called him during the swap. What are the odds of that? The only difference in the virgin branded ones will be the silk screening. Nothing else. Virgin may be working out the kinks on their end with their databases and registering serials, but the phones will almost always be perfectly working like mine and many others. My point is that on a forum that provides support, you are more likely to have a higher population of people with defective products than those who have perfect products. Just a different perspective. :)

If you get one that works, it will be no different.
Mine runs great.

Flash or reflash makes ZERO difference, the only variable was how well it was flashed. The early ones were done by untrained people. Some worked, some didn't. It's the same as flashing a rom.

Designed for Sprint? Come on.
What do you think Virgin is. There is nothing different or magical about Virgin compared to Sprint. In fact, you can flash almost any CDMA phone over and it will work perfectly fine, other than MMS. I did it with an Evo 4g, it ran perfect. I know people with Evo Shifts, Marquee's, and more all on Virgin that run perfect.

Go ahead and keep thinking there will be some magical difference, but you are only fooling yourself. Will there be less issues? Sure because it will be flashed by HTC in a controled environment where they are more likely to have better quality control, but if it works, it works. Doesn't matter who flashes it.

These aren't first batch, there is no batch. The difference is that these were flashed outside of the factory, which is why a few are having trouble.

Seriously, you guys are making a mountain out of a mole hill. This isn't the Triumph all over again. Not even close.

If anything the newly manufactured units might be functionally equivalent but manufactured with cheaper sourced parts. Doesn't require any changes in manufacturing or line changes. For example changing the Wolffson DAC in the Evo with a lesser component could easily save $.25 per unit and not require recertification. Just another thought, with some of the new products and features suddenly appearing on Virgin who knows, this might be Sprint's way of testing the waters for a possible return of Sprint's branded prepay service. It would certainly save money having everything under one roof. Eliminate an awful lot of redundancy. The half billion paid for VMUSA pales in comparison to the 35 billion Crapple contract. Time will tell.

This would be be the most likely thing that could happen or change, but I doubt even that. Regardless of certification, any little change requires R&D and testing, even for a functional equivalent. Plus, any hardware changes in situations are usually for the worse, not better.

Truth be told, fear of that happening was one of the secondary reasons I decided to get a Sprint model.

I have one of the sprint branded evo's and i have a few bugs.
I love the phone so much. But i get Error 64 Error Code 2 about once a day.
Also sometimes it just powers down on its own lol.

So all i really want to know is, (in your opinion) what are the chances that the Error 64 issue will be addressed any time soon by VM or HTC?

If my phone stays like this forever i might get pissed lol
But i love it so much i dont want to have to send it back and swap back to my intercept .___.

Hah! I ENTIRELY missed this one what with all the hype of the icrap coming to VM, but as soon as I saw that it had come out I checked the local BBs and ran over to the closest one and picked one up. (And to think that I was one of the first people to have a Triumph...)

They weren't out on the display, so I had to ask someone who got one out of their little locked cabinets. Mine IS Sprint logoed, but DOES have ICS(4.0.3/Sense 3.6) and the VM stuff. I was EXTREMELY happy to see that they toned down their little VM boot sequence.

I wanted it mainly for the dual core SoC and more RAM, plus storage(never can have enough storage and RAM). Screen is more responsive than the Triumph or OV, and GPS is SUPER fast to lock blows the OV right out of the water.

I still haven't activated it yet, but will do soon and then put up the Triumph on the auction block, probably still hang onto the OV as a just in case phone given that I had to exchange my Triumph after abou 6m when it would no longer charge.

(Funny note: I checked the VMUSA site too BEFORE going to BB and saw the triumph was $229 IIRC yet it was $279 @ BB... Probably should've waited to but the Evo until today when I could pick up a moving kit from the USPS for the BB coupon...)

I don't miss the VM logoing, feels a little more cheaply built than the Triumph and has the crap pull off the back to access batt/uSD(liked the slider on the Triumph MUCH more), and it is noticeably heavier than the Triumph.

Yes so glad to hear that VM branded phones are finally making their appearance...I'll wait a little longer till they get flooded with VM branded phones...then I'll pick one up, again..I'm gonna go to BB and get the geek squad black tie 2 year protection and their buy back guarantee coupled together...yes I'll be in good to go then... :D:D:D

My wife has VM branded black (on battery cover) and i have a sprint branded purple (best buy exclusive) both are working in all conditions identically. only thing is her power button is slightly easier to press. both run identical software. both feel exactly the same. please stop feeding the hysteria; sprint branded ones work just as well (i presonally like pretending i'm on sprint tho ;D)
