Hello everyone. In these forums one sees mostly threads about problems, but I'd like to know also about people who haven't had issues.

Currently living abroad the US with no HTC support nearby, I'd like to know if you think purchasing the N1 is too risky to buy for me. I've read about the dust problems and the screen cracks, and it does worry me, but I'm inclined to think those who've had these experiences are a minority.

I'd like to know how frequently are people sending their phones for repair, even after only 2 months.

Does anyone's screen stand tall after several drops? Has any phone case/cover proven to be useful against drops and dust?

I'll appreciate the comments; everyone's experience will be valuable. : ]

After the answers (thanks) and some more reading I think dust and cracked screen problems happening are just bound to the randomness of bad luck. The screen may be more fragile, but perhaps some extra care won't ruin the overall experience with a great phone.

Ya i agree. I've had the phone for almost 2 weeks. No dust.. no cracked screens and no 3g issues what so ever.

But i would use the android pouch that comes with the phone. :) Especially if u put the phone in your pockets. But I wouldn't put your phone in pants that are tight lol. That's a damn good way to crush your screen.

And getting OTA(over the air) updates directly from Google=Win!!
