Root [ROM][CM9 KANG][Alpha] Updated 3.5.5---6/27/12

Hello all.. Firstly I would like to say thanks to all for a great rom.. I recently installed it and I love it :-) I do have a question... I can't seem to get a camera to work.. is that a problem with the rom or did something go wrong on my install? any help would be appreciated.. I've tried a couple of different cam apps with no luck and on the unlock screen if i pick camera to unlock it simply reboots... ideas? The camera is the one thing that I would like to have.. lol. figures i find a rom i love and the one thing i like doesn't work for me. anyways, Thanks to all.. :-)

We don't have the ics camera drivers. it's a known issue.
It's even mentioned in the OP ;)

what changes have been made to your services.jar? can you post it for others to try?

why post a nandroid? just make a zip. makes installing much easier.

i have been displaced from my home. the rear half fell into a sewer causeway. i check in from time to time but between moving with my wife and kids from one temp home to another and legal proceedings i have no time to dev. i'll be back on it when i can.

I wonder, if that phone has an ics rom with a working camera, couldn't everything needed to make the camera work be ported?
 
well see, the camera drivers have changed in 4.0 i believe.... idk how but yeah.... they have.... so in order for the camera to work new drivers would have to be built. i had seen something about Mad team having a semi usable camera so i swapped out the drivers but it didn't work .... some guy said that the drivers were indefinitely classified. so we have to hope samsung one day releases them... it seems the development on the prevail has stopped... a couple months back id be able to come on here and see new updates about 4 times a day... well. small ones but u know.... like home boy said our devs have moved on to other phones.... hroark and bloodawn with the marquee (they was great assets to the prevail) and well.... unless someone learns coding.... this forum will end up like the huawei ascend forum... r.i.p prevail lol

We will finish cm9..and yes for the most part our talent has gone..and getting cm to a daily state is taking a while ..I don't have much time to play with it but will continue to help as much as I can..even if it is long after most of our current user population is gone..now that said..there may be things that just might never work ...the camera being one if them..the drivers are proving to be a real pain in the ass..soo all we can do is stay positive and help twords fixes as much as possible..then in the finale op it will say take it or leave it lol..this is cm9 for the prevail..the little phone that everyone said ics wouldn't work on..
 
I mean you have done a great job in getting it to where it is at right now... Ive been using this rom on a dialy basis the camara thing sucks... But hey my friends have some newer phones still running gingerbread so being able to show cm9 off is pretty cool... Thanks man... Thanks to everyone that has had a part in makin this phone what people said it would never be.

Please don't thank me bro..this project has been for the most part a true community effort..I wouldn't dare take anymore credit then being a part of a group that got it where it is..hmmmm...maybe ill take a little extra cred. For having the grapefruits to take it on with me still learning android and development..:) jk
 
I just want to say I really love CM9 and if you can in future updates please keep or add that Grey denim like android wall paper,I really love that wall paper a lot <3 thanks in advanced

Regardless you should be able to get it. Just gotta find where the wallpapers are and copy to the SD card

i didnt create this rom..Hroark did.. he made it from source..and i have taken his base and modded and added some tweaks and changes of my own...i have made my own changes and incorperated the fixes and mods from a few other users into hroarks base..i didnt do anything special that anyone els couldnt do

there are several tutorials on how to setup a build environment and how to build cyan.
google it and i imagine you will find what you are looking for..also i think Hroark made a thread about it a while back..look for that also..

no currently video playback is jacked up..i know netflix needs a special codec in order to get more then just audio..hulu crackel and the other i imagine are the same ..
 
So i was messing around with your rom all day and I found a way (How To Install Google Now On Rooted Android 4.0 ICS [AOSP ROM Required] | iJailbreak.com) to port google now to this rom.. I know this these steps were made for a dif rom but I just wanted to try it... lucky me!!! it installed perfectly except for one thing... I can use the search bar and I get perfect results but when i try to speak, it just stops (not crashes) and tells me to retry... so i was wondering if there is a way u can get the regular google microphone translating (like in speaktoit assistant) thing to be used instead of the thing bieng used in the app... im sorry if im confusing u... IM no dev... its an idea

yeah i found the thread at xda where some guy got it half way working..i have been using it on my 3d sense last night..it is only partially working right now..no voice actions..there are many people working on getting the voice part to work..just a matter of time..but until then i cant make it apart of the rom because there is already enough stuff not fully working lol..if you want you can post the link so others can try it out ..make sure to give credit to the op at xda though

ive been sayin that.... I hit hroark up but he just told me where the drivers are at not how to fix them into the rom... I tried swapping them out and no luck.... If you try swapping the camaraservice lib the phone boot loops.... Ive tried hard to get the damm drivers to work but no luck.... Have fun. ;)
 
I use MX Player and the codec for our phone set to SOFTWARE Decoder, then set it as default for anything video related, then video playback works fine. Might not be HD but better than nothing.
 
I have installed CM9 using the steps provided, but I still can't get any data service. When I toggle it says connecting then stops and says disconnected under about phone-status-network connection. My question is will this rom run on FE16 baseband or should I Odin to EJ06? I am currently on CM7. Thanks to everyone who has helped CM9 get this far, you guys are great!

cm9 hasnt been tested on your guys newest update..try it and post back with results..or if ya wanna play it safe just go with ej06 :)
