Verizon Pre-order, Release date, and speculation thread

FedEx does Saturday delivery if the shipper requests it (and pays for it), I don't think it's included in Standard Overnight. Weird though, as I've had things delivered on Saturday that were shipped FedEx Home Delivery and FedEx Express Saver. I rarely use them, most of the things that I order are shipped UPS or USPS. Edit: Standard Overnight does not have the option for Saturday delivery, but Priority overnight does.

As far as picking it up from the distribution center, FedEx will not allow it unless they've made atleast one delivery attempt. A previous poster claims that when he/she called Verizon they contacted FedEx and released the package for pickup without a delivery attempt being made, but given VZW Rep's reputation for not knowing what the **** they're talking about I wouldn't think it was a guarantee.

You know I read that line and thought, lets call Fedex to see if my package would be available like the Verizon CSR promised....

And you were absolutely right...they didn't know what the **** they were talking about. Fedex didn't even show a call from Verizon regarding the package. Another thing they flat out lied about the package went out 2nd Day - though they said it was sent out standard overnight. When I told them my email said 2nd day, they said that was a mistake and that it went out overnight...uhm no it went out 2nd day.

If it had gone out overnight, it would be available for pick up but because it's 2nd day it's sitting in a cargo container that won't be open until Sunday morning for a Monday delivery.

Oh well, guess it will be Monday.

PS. Interesting thing the latest CSR told me because I asked to make sure I retain my unlimited data....anyone who is upgrading (regardless of when they pre-ordered) will now be able to retain unlimited data if they already have 4g unlimited data as part of their plans. This direction was just received this week he said.... Take that for what it's worth I'm sure another CSR would say something different.

So I left a signed and dated note on my door with shipping details for the FedEx driver to note to leave it in the mailbox or at the door because I'm at work. Just checked FedEx site and it says:

Jul 6, 2012 10:42 AM
Delivery exception
Customer not available or business closed

I seriously hope they left it at the door...otherwise I have to drive 50 miles one way to the FedEx store and pick it up....

It's already been confirmed on a few forums that you are able to keep your unlimited data, even if you were on a 3G device.

Here is my understanding of saturday deliveries.

When things are shipped standard ground they may get saturday delivery if that happens to be the day that it happens to get there.

However, standard overnight and 2nd day delivery does not count Saturdays for delivery or processing days.

So something shipped on friday standard overnight will arrive monday, and if shipped 2nd day will arrive Tuesday. That is my understanding.

I'm sure they did, FedEx drivers are normally cool like that, I know mine is.

I see all the bad posts about reception :/ I don't get it. My reception is awesome on every level and I live in a small no name town near the woods and stuff. 4G is great so far and extremely fast, it switched to 3G once when I was in a bathroom with very thick walls in a basement and it still worked great, and my wifi is awesome on it everywhere I have been. I have no complaints. Absolutely love the phone

Or you could wait another day for them to deliver it to you again...? Assuming they deliver on Saturdays. I'm not sure.

Man, my shipping info said it was in PA on July 4th, then it says NJ on July 5th. Guess I'll really be getting it on 7/9 after all. I thought there'd be a small chance I'd get it during the weekend. Overnight shipping my @$$...

Please contribute further input in the Verizon SG3 signal reception thread :)

I will not get the device until next week, so a collection of different users should make things clearer.

25 minutes after I posted this, I got my shipping confirmation. Already in FedEx's system. Shipping from Memphis. Delivery type set to Standard Overnight, says it will be here by 4:30 pm tomorrow to Statesville, NC

For you North Carolinians, my 16GB white GS3 just arrived via FedEx. Was promised prior to 4:30 today. Order on 6/6 in the afternoon.

Anyone hear anything new from Best Buy?

Yes they have a sale this weekend on a sweet Whirlpool dishwasher! They also have a USB stick for just $19.99!

Sorry I couldn't resist. Haven't seen anybody that purchased from BB getting any kind of info though. If you look at the ATT thread, BB seems like a real pain to deal with on pre-orders and am guessing people won't see their phones until the "official" release date. Sucks.

Probably next week some time.

I can live with that. :smokingsomb:

I just bought a $2000 front loading LG washer/dryer set for my new house. The washer is completely silent. It's phenomenal. And it plays a little tune when it finishes rather than the BUZZZZZZZZZ I used to have at my apartment. Anyway, that's why I'm getting the S3 at basically subsidized price. Besides, what's another three to five days between friends?

My pre-order has been converted to an actual order. Verizon is still anticipating my blue 32 to ship by the 10th, but now it's no longer an ephemeral "pre-order."

Progress!

EDIT: I checked my email right after posting this. Verizon told me my phone shipped. I now have a FedEx tracking number and the phone should be here by Monday, July 9th, 2012. Progress!
