So yesterday I downloaded this app called Waze, it was featured on the play store. Anyways this is one of the coolest apps I have ever seen. It allows drivers to connect and report information quick and easily. I recommend this app to commuters, people who live in a metro area, or anyone who doesn't like to be stuck in traffic! It also has built in navigation, which is almost as good as Google's Nav. ;)

It also sometimes seems to have issues with re calculating a route. It took it 6 or 7 attempts to get it right once when we were driving from WI to OH.

It is fun picking up road candy though (or Easter eggs they had around Easter) - made a long 9 hour journey a lot more fun.

Still unsure about updating maps though. I've tried several times to clean up some mall roads that some cokehead had going around in all directions but still not seen my updates listed.

when you update the map online, it gets added to the map tiles batch......the batches are updated every X amount of days, sometimes a week, sometimes a month, depends how well their process is running.........once the map tiles get updated, they are then live, and you will see your updates on the client maps

Updated just after Easter - not seeing the updates yet.

something went wrong, either around that time(which was when they were having alot of problems) or on your end

i've edited quite a bit and never had any issues really

another possibility is someone re-edited what you edited

theres also the chance the process for it changed, i stopped bothering with waze a while back...it's a great app, but google nav is just easier/better than having to update the map constantly, and fix mistakes that other editors make.......nothing more annoying than spending hours fixing an area, only to have someone else come through and ruin it :p

Waze is great. I use it over Google Navigation. A couple of weeks ago, it came up with a route I never would have come up with and got me Philly to central Long Island in 2 hrs, 40 mins which was pretty much at the time it originally started with. Google Nav route listed something like 3:10.

The only thing is that sometimes it has trouble getting me to exact locations. If I'm going somewhere unfamiliar, but might be a little tricky of a spot, I try to switch to Google NAV when I get close.

Otherwise, if you are in an area with a lot of Wazers, you get some amazing traffic data with really improves route selection.

Another example.... I found that when I get on the highway to go to work, some days it's better to take the service road to the next exit instead of getting right on the highway. I can save a good 3-4 minutes doing that. Google NAV never suggests that. After making the trip a few times (Waze learns), now Waze actually sometimes tells me to get on the highway and sometimes tells me to take the service road.

It's route selection is excellent.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I tried to use Waze the other day on my OV and had GPS on and it directed me to a location over 500 miles away (I was looking for a grocery store so I know there were others closer to me). Not sure why but I ended up using my GPS in my car instead (just so happened I wasn't in the car when I was checking at first).

Waze gave saved me a good 30 minutes last night. I was heading towards the inbound George Washington Bridge in NYC last night. Waze routed me to the local access and I flew all the wall to the toll booths. The express access to the bridge had an insane backup that easily would have taken 30 minutes to get through.

Google Navigate never would have routed me around that.
